WOW!!! Two amazing films. I used to have the Last Year at Marienbad Criterion, but sold it for close to $200 on ebay one time when $$$ was tight.

Re: Criterion releases on Blu-Rays

What are the chances The Seventh Seal blu-ray will look better than the one already released?

Am I reading it right that the Blu-Ray version is more expensive than the DVD version? I thought they were supposed to be the same.

I think that unfortunately the DVD is mispriced in the site.

that's probably true. and/or the single disc reissue is 29.95, and a double set w/ Bergman island will be 39.95 - same price as the BD which includes both.

Thanks Pro-B,

I was just about to go to the international forum to ask about the high price tag for the European release and see if anyone had heard whispers about a U.S. release.

The supplemental material looks like it could be great and that cover is a big improvement over the SD cover. More than anything, I'll just be glad to have this in HD.

Re: Criterion releases on Blu-Rays

My cover on the Criterion (standard disc) is completely different. Did they do a remastering on this film already since I bought it? Even so, I plan on upgrading to the Blu-ray anyway.

So do I. 2-disc release, 2nd disc is PAL, perfect condition, includes features not announced for the Criterion. And totally OOP from a defunct company.

For anyone who wants to take a chance that the Tartan BD betters the Criterion or if you prefer the special features included in that set, this is your opportunity to get it for the low-low price of $28.99 shipped anywhere in the US (currently the cheapest price for the Criterion BD). Please PM me with offers.

^ Yes, there is a new edition coming out. The old Criterion edition had been out for several years. It will undoubtedly look better (especially in blu); I believe the old DVD wasn't even anamorphic.

Re: Criterion releases on Blu-Rays

So you're saying it's still not anamorphic?? God, Criterion has been so spotty with their releases lately.

Oh, right. Anyway, I'm sure we'll see some pretty significant quality improvements.
