Yeah, I figured it would be a 2-disc set. Cramming more than 5 hours of HD video plus extras on one disc would suck. I'm a little surprised they're not charging even more than the standard book-type case premium because it's 2 discs.

Wow it's starting to look like a lean summer for BD releases for me.

Well at least The Proposition is announced domestically now.

Just what the world needed: Donny Osmond in HD.

May I also add as great '99 movies:

South Park: Bigger, Longer, and Uncut
Bringing Out the Dead
Run Lola Run (released that year in the US)
Dogma
The Straight Story
Summer of Sam
Three Kings
Bowfinger

And of course, Wild Wild West.

Anyone for "The Iron Giant"?

mayorofsmpleton 05-06-08 10:35 PM

Throw Boys Don't Cry into the 1999 mix. :)

So I take it 'Teaching Mrs. Tingle' is coming during Christmas?

Well, "they" are Sony. Disney owns the Scream movies and TMT. I don't think Sony would go to Disney and say "hey, we're thinking about releasing the I Know... movies and Urban Legend. Do you think you guys could release the Scream movies first? It just wouldn't look right for the first Kevin Williamson-scribed horror flick on BD to not be Scream." ;)

Mod Note: This is a thread for Blu-ray announcements. Can we keep the comments about people's collections and the "best film of year xxxx" out of it please? Thank you.

Starz Home Entertainment has announced an early-July Blu-ray bow for the dark indie romance 'Sex and Death 101.'

Written and directed by 'Heathers' scribe Daniel Waters, the Simon Baker-Winona Ryder black comedy grossed less than $10 million at the domestic box office during its short theatrical run earlier this year.

Starz will debut the Blu-ray version on July 1, day-and-date with the standard DVD.

Announced supplements include an audio commentary with Waters, and a making-of featurette.

There are no tech specs yet, but we'll keep you posted.

Starz has set a suggested retail price of $34.98 for the Blu-ray.

I'm down for Prison Break 3. Didn't buy season 1 on BD because I didn't see myself rewatching it enough to justify double dipping, but I'm glad Fox is bring S3 out day and date...now if they'd only get around to season 2, which I skipped on dvd hoping for blu-ray.

That isn't in theaters yet. We have to wait for May 23 to see the true genius that Boll delivers.

BTW, I'm pretty sure Disney controls the rights to the Pixar titles worldwide, so they'll gladly take your dollars, er, euros, Popcorn Tree. That is, if it's actually coming out overseas this year but not yet in the US. I have my doubts.
