Ive been thinking about this awhile as well, and my vote goes for the opposite - that is if its a USA film in hidef it should be listed here, regardless of where it is sourced from. Lets stop thinking myopically to the US shoreline and think more about the actual title. Whats the difference of ordering "Sweeney Todd" from Amazon USA or UK? - nothing apart from a few days delivery time. (lets ignore that its not available in the USA at the moment) However foreign films in different languages have a much larger difference than an American film ordered from a different store. And then there is the Standard Def vs Hidef differences. I wade through the "International DVD Talk" trying to figure out whats hidef and whats not. Something isnt right here. I propose we have either: For titles released in the USA vs Internationally: USA HD Talk International HD Talk USA DVD Talk International DVD Talk or alternatively, for USA films released anywhere vs international films released anywhere: USA Films in HD International Films in HD USA Films on DVD International Films on DVD This could clarify things either way and make it more understandable to those readers who are themselves outside of the USA also. What do people think? |

I love how instead of releasing new titles Universal instead is just re-releasing all of its previous HD DVD stuff. I guess we will be losing out on the 100 Universal titles we would have gotten this year and maybe another 30-40 from Paramount (catalog, not day and dates).

LOL - I doubt very much we would have gotten 30-40 catalog from Paramount under any circumstances. That would be 3 a month or so. They're lucky if they get 3 a quarter out.
I'm happy with re-releases like the Mummy films getting "souped up" even if it means less over all releases in the short term. You also have to imagine Universal means to put DTS-HD MA on all these as they said it would become their standard. Maybe that takes some time too. |
