DVD Polizei-
I'm with you...I'm filling my cart with more HD-DVD's before their gone.

PopcornTreeCt 04-09-08 09:14 PM

I bought a 360 HD DVD player back in 2007 I sent them off an email because I hadn't received the GC.

kiett_2000 04-09-08 09:34 PM

Just called them and requested it. They wanted my order number. Good thing I saved it. :D

No, purchases through a third-party via Amazon, like Electronics Expo, wouldn't qualify.

But that would actually require me to interact with a real human being! :D I'll give it another week or so.

I just bought another $48 or so last night from Amazon. Can't believe I didn't have Galapagos in my collection. The $25 or so titles I'm holding out but the $16 and under titles, what the hell. If you haven't got on board for The Matador, Feast, and Harsh Times, I recommend them.

Gizmo 04-09-08 10:34 PM

Check your SPAM folder...mine got sent there.

Gizmo 04-09-08 10:42 PM

Hmmm...mine won't apply to my account. Keeps saying

"There's something wrong with the gift certificate/card claim code you entered. Please check for transposed digits, omitted digits, and similar errors."

Grr.

I bought that A2 Amazon had with the free movies back in August last year for what ended up being about $179 for the Toshiba player itself. THEN Wal-mart had the $99 deals on the same player and I felt like a real chump. THEN there were those deals at BB and CC where people were getting HD-players and movies for practically free and I felt like a real chump again. THEN CC and BB started giving people gift cards for THEIR HD-DVD players and I felt like a bigger chump. Now at least Amazon is giving customers who bought HD-DVD players $50 back, still not as much savings as I would have had if I had waited for those other deals, but a great bit of news to hear.

Of course, they have not sent ME any email about it all, so I still feel like a chump.

HOly flurking shit! This is rad! I'm getting one too, since I got an HD-DVD right around Christmas. The $100 combined between Amazon and BB has paid for the machine! W00t.

I didn't get a GC for my purchase of a Toshiba HD-A1 back in October 2006. So I just emailed Amazon about it and 15 minutes later they sent me an email with a $50 GC. Thanks for starting this thread or I wouldn't have known about the offer.

Sweet, just got mine! I bought a 360 player back in December and got the Bourne Trilogy free. Then in Feb they gave me a $100 credit when they dropped and now this $50 means I got the player, King Kong, Bourne Trilogy and the 5 free by mail (which I just got last week) for $29.99!! Great bargain

VAMPYRE XX 04-10-08 04:19 AM

My code showed up in my email. I bought the XBOX 360 add on in the beginning of Febuary '08 when they had the "gold box deal" for $79.99. I sent off for the 5 free movies and now a $50 gift code. Wow.... It's almost like they paid me to take all this of their hands.

Sent an email to Amazon CS last night. Had my coupon waiting for me this morning. I don't understand why Amazon did this, but I love 'em for it.

steebo777 04-10-08 07:23 AM

Big kudos to Amazon for this, got my code yesterday!

MBoyd 04-10-08 09:44 AM

If we could just get Fry's on board with this trend . . . :)

bretski 04-10-08 10:13 AM

Lucky dogs! I got my A1 though Amazon, but it was a 3rd party sale (electronics expo).

kenbuzz 04-10-08 10:48 AM

<--- I bought my HD-A2 from Amazon on May 22, 2007. Looking forward to checking email tonight.

Thanks OP!

Ummm... not being judgemental, but how exactly is this not considered stealing?

How is it considered stealing? He bought the machine from the retailer. He's not lying to the retailer about his purchase. Amazon isn't asking him if he still has the machine or is using it. They are sending out the gift card to everyone that bought an HD-DVD player. This is no different than people that bought them for cheap and put them up on eBay.

Grr.

In case you haven't figured it out, it's more than likely a 'promotional' GC, so it can only be applied to an order during checkout.

Gizmo 04-10-08 11:33 AM

Ahhh... I'll give that a shot next then. I get numerous refund GCs from Amazon and always put them in the box under My Account settings.

Darknite39 04-10-08 11:34 AM

Sent amazon an email and received a code in about 4 mins!

Thanks, OP!

Deftones 04-10-08 11:40 AM

They couldn't find my order. I don't order much from Amazon so that confused me. So, still waiting to hear back from them.
