Amazon.com HD-DVD Player Gift Card!
Just got an e-mail from Amazon giving me a $50 Promo Code good for 1 year for buying my Xbox HD-DVD drive way back in Nov 06:
As someone who purchased an HD DVD player from us before February 23, 2008,* you might like to hear about a special offer available from Amazon.com.
New technologies don't always work out as planned. We at Amazon.com value our customer relationships more than anything and would like to support customers who purchased these players by offering a credit good for $50 off any products sold by Amazon.com

I ordered one from Amazon in '07. Didn't get anything in the e-mail yet, but it's kind of funny how HD DVD keeps paying off. I can't complain between all the discounts, BOGOs, rebate movies, and so forth that were offered for HD DVD. Getting and extra $50 is just icing on the cake if it comes through.

Got the e-mail today, too, then immediately used it to get Twilight Zone: The Definitive Season 5 and Enchanted

Wow is all I can say. I just read the e-mail from Amazon and was shocked that they were doing this as well. I had ordered HD-A30 on 2-20 as a backup player. I had purchased a HD-A2 from WalMart when they had the $99 special and I had also picked up a Xbox 360 add on drive from Best Buy when they had the glitch where you could get box sets as your 2 free along with Heroes. I haven't got my gift card from BB yet. The HD-A30 at Amazon was $129.99 when I bought it and now the least expensive new one they list on their site is $279.99 from a vendor . Weird. I guess they're a collector's item now. So maybe soon WalMart will do something similar.

Who said anything about returning the HD-DVD player? That's not what we're talking about here. I'd like a $50 GC from Wal-Mart. These $50 GCs from Best Buy and Amazon don't require you to return your player.

Apparently this promo is good for $50 PER PLAYER up to $500...so if you bought a whole bunch of players, the one code you will receive will include the number of players you bought.
I don't have the fine print but I've seen this confirmed over at the AVS Forum.

Wow, I bought one from Amazon in July '07 and returned to circuit city using a friend's receipt. Also bought another in Jan '08 (when they included the 3 extra movies) which I sold on CL for what I paid for it. Can't wait to get my gift cards!!!

Meearearrggh. I bought two HD players. If Amazon's passing some around, I want mine. I certainly didn't expect anything like this.

Bought a player in August and one in November and just opened my email with a 11:27am time stamp with my $100 gift card code in it. So far I only ordered Bonnie and Clyde Blu...I'll hold on to the rest in hope of a B1G1 or different B2G3 promotion.

Bought A2 in early August and nothing yet, but I was just wondering if they were going to join the party. Good for them - they will probably get my purchase when I buy a PS3 if they ever have a promo or price reduction.

I'll use it to buy more HD DVDs.

Call them and request one.
