I know this is only tangentially related, but I found it pretty entertaining.
Yesterday I was at the recording for the Jeopardy College Tournament here at University of Wisconsin-Madison. One of the categories was New York Times - Tech Biz and the "answer" was something like "Best Buy has decided to give $50 gift certificates to purchasers of this technology that lost a technology war against it close competitor."
... if you're this far into this thread, you know the question is
The episode airs Wed, May 14.

Got my $50 gift card last week and used it (plus 13.00 cash) to purchase "Planet Earth" (on blu-ray).. I would have used it to get some HD-DVDs, but of course they are all gone (Unfortunately). It was nice of them to send out the cards at least. They didn't have to do it. I highly recommend Planet Earth. Incredible is an understatement. Even though it only shows in 1080i, it still looks incredible because of the original source material mostly being shot with all HD cameras. The 1080p written on the box is supposedly a "misprint" and it is actually 1080i. It still looks AMAZING! So I say if you haven't seen it, it's a must have if you like nature and learning.

Still waiting on mine. I called last week and they said they aren't sending them out until May 1st, which I laughed at and said many people have received theirs already. She said that must be a fluke of a few people because they are not officially sending them out yet. I'll give them a couple more weeks before calling back.

I bought my first player in 12/06 at Best Buy BM in State College, PA. Second one I bought at bb.com and had shipped to my house in New London, WI. Got credit for both, no problem. I was skeptical about this, but kudos to BB for making this happen.

I hunted around and picked up Galactic Civilizations 2: Dread Lords. BB had it for $19.99. Amazon price: $29.99.
Just need to be picky. I figure the rest I will probably spend next time they have a BD sale of some sort...or maybe on Mario Kart for Wii.

I figured that was the best I could with the GC.

Got a 12% Reward Zone coupon today. With the coupon and the $50 gift card, I'm thinking of replacing my BDP-S300; however, I'm undecided between the PS3 and the Panasonic DMP-BD30. The Panasonic is $100 more and is not available at any nearby Best Buy stores, yet I'm skeptical about the PS3 because I don't game, at all. Do I really want a gaming machine in my setup? Decisions, decisions...

Got my card in the mail today from my Best Buy for Business A3 purchase. So I paid $90 for my A3 plus two movies and, now, Mario Kart Wii for the kids (ok, and myself).
I'm in South Carolina and last name starts with a 'B'.

For some reason I received 3 - $100 gift cards from BB. I purchased an A1 the day it was released and returned it a week later. This past November I purchased 2 A3 players from BB-business. I should have only received $100.00 but instead I received $300.00 in gift cards. Not too bad if you ask me. I don't even like BB so I went in on one day and purchased $300.00 in movies.

I am. Like I said in a previous post, when I called to see where my card was they said they're not mailing out cards until May 1st and that the people receiving them was a fluke. I'm giving them a couple more weeks until I call back.

I'm also still waiting, and am worried whether or not my giftcard will actually come. Last fall, another customer with the same first and last name as me tried to open a Reward Zone account. Instead of creating a new account, the idiot employee changed all my info over to theirs. I didn't catch it until February. They fixed all my reward zone points, but I'm worried the other person's address will be associated with my HD DVD player. I've called twice to inquire and neither time was the customer service rep able to be of any help whatsoever. Oh well. It's only $50, I suppose.
