Where'd you manage to get that deal from?

I ordered it within minutes of the sale going up though.

The note they sent with the package stated that I will get it, just at a later date with no clues as to when.

-Edit, not to mention the fact that they charged me for it and never notified me that it wouldn't ship until I received this thing in the box.

The prior e-mail I had gotten stated that my order was secured which in any dictionary means fulfilled, guaranteed, ensured, etc etc.

Fascinating story - which is meaningless to anyone but you if there isn't some kind of link to where others might take advantage of such a deal. Otherwise, no one cares - particularly in this thread.

Quake1028 03-31-08 11:17 PM

I got it off of CL. No one could take advantage if they wanted to. People have posted similar finds all over this thread. Remove stick from ass ;).

I should have included that in my OP, but had to post and run and forgot. My bad.

I also ordered it within minutes, got charged and then got refunded and told it's not coming. It's sad, but oh well, too bad - they were extremely generous with the Harry Potter offer (4.90 per film) when Total Recall was temporarily out of stock. The stuff they do send to me get here quick and reliably; it's a clearance and if they say prioritised the Australian orders that's fair enough.

I noticed Cockwork Orange for $13.99 at Fry's. Is that worth it for a bad picture?

That gets my vote for the funniest reply of the day. Thanks for the laugh.

At Circuit City they had very few titles of interest to me. None of the Kubrick films were there... :(

I did manage to get Superman: The Movie and Superman 2: The Richard Donner Cut HD-DVD's for $12.50 each. They only had one copy of each and as these were on the top of my HD wish list it seemed like a decent price for them.

A follow-up about the Aussie BSG S1 HD set. In the original clearance thread, someone from NZ mentioned that the set did not include the miniseries - they had it in hand IIRC. I don't have mine in hand yet, so I cannot personally confirm or deny that. I'm sticking to the assumption that the set does not include the miniseries (see above), and that the difference in prices between the US and AUS versions more than makes up for the potential lack of a miniseries.

Once I get my set, or if a domestic DVDTalker who has ordered this set gets theirs and reports in, we can confirm the set contents. Either with or without the miniseries, this is still a very, very good price, IMO.

DVD Polizei 04-01-08 07:59 PM

Picked up The Aviator and T3 on HD DVD today from CC. Wasn't much to choose from. But I thought finding Aviator was a good thing.

Huh? Why would someone from NZ's word not be good? I am also from New Zealand and have seen that BSG doesn't contain the mini-series.

DVD Polizei 04-01-08 09:12 PM

I think kenbuzz is saying this because he doesn't know if these are the same versions which NZers have, and the same those in the US will receive when they order. I don't think it's a matter of dislike of country or its citizens.

kenbuzz 04-01-08 10:56 PM

Yup, that's what I try to say, although it wasn't apparently done very clearly.

Some folks are pointing out that ezyDVD's site shows the set as including the miniseries, but I would tend to believe someone who actually has the set in-hand.

Unless those sneaky Aussies are sending the Kiwis substandard sets, and are shipping the regular sets to their own citizens and us Yanks as well. :)

mazzystar 04-02-08 12:07 AM

According to a member on hidefdigest who bought BSG from ezydvd, this set does in fact include the mini series.

nz-kiwiman 04-02-08 01:28 AM

I just brought the set, and can confirm that it does have the mini series. The Ezy DVD website states that the set is only 4 disks and includes 12 episodes. It is in fact 6 discs and contains all episodes.

Sadly I got a floater in the case...

kenbuzz 04-02-08 09:17 AM

 for the miniseries being included http://www.minormania.com/stuff/smilie_nz_flag.gif

 for getting a floater

I've updated the ezyDVD list (above) to confirm the miniseries.

tsetse27 04-02-08 11:18 AM

Can anyone confirm that the Harry Potter And The Order Of The Phoenix sale at ezyDVD, is the 2-disc / non-combo edition?

thanks!

speedyray 04-02-08 11:20 AM

How does the shipping change at ezdvd after you crest 5 titles? What if I order say 10 titles?

candyrocket786 04-02-08 12:44 PM

Just received my ezydvd order from their 1st sale (order was shipped on March 13th).

The Australian release of Order of the Phoenix is a single disc non-Combo edition. It appears to be identical to the US release, except no DVD side on the disc. The UK 2-disc set with bonus features in HD is still the best all-around edition of the movie.

It's also worth noting that the Australian release of the first film is the American "Sorcerer's Stone" version on the disc, despite the packaging being labelled "Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone".

Morpheus Phreak 04-02-08 02:42 PM

Hmm, just a couple days after I praised EzyDVD for having great communication they've stopped responding to me. So now I'm thinking I may get stuck with having to call my bank and initiating a refund through them for the price of the disc :(
