Is the PS3 Region Free when it comes to Blu Ray?

I know that HD and Blu Ray players are region free, but what about the PS3? Same rule apply?

I don't know where you got the info that blu-ray players are region free but that is not the case.

Sure there are some companies that say they can make your player region free but I haven't heard anything that can verify it.

If you want a region A player you will need to buy one in the US or if you need a region B player then Europe is the place to be.

HD-DVD player are region free by the way.

PS1/PS2 Games: No.
PS3 Games: Depends on the Publisher (but thus far they've all or mostly been region free).

Not true. Blu-ray is not region free. Just happens that most of the Blu-ray discs out right now do not have regional coding enabled.

Here's a list of the region free/coded Blu-Ray discs for Region B (assuming you're in the U.S.). There is also Region A info if you're outside the U.S.

HD DVD - Region free

BluRay - has 3 regions (A,B,C)

PS3 - has 3 regions for Bluray, the games are region locked for the PS1/PS2, didn't know there was any region coding for PS3 games (didn't think the option was available) but all I've tried so far have been region free.

You'd think there would be firmware hacks by now.
