What are the best Blu-Ray dvds out there that look the best on HDTVs?
I know Planet Earth is supposed to be good and I saw that Pan's Labyrinth got good reviews are there any others you all would recommend.

Also Lost Season 3, Apocalypto, and Shoot 'Em Up. IMO The Rat & Cars are the kings of all HD PQ.Originally Posted by QuePaso

I found the image, clarity jawdropping. (granted it was shot with HD cameras)Originally Posted by Hammer99

Close Encouters of the Third kind looked and sounded spectacular. Oh, and another vote for Rat and Cars.

I picked this up on HD-DVD a while back and was practically drooling the entire time I was watching it. Originally Posted by Giles

Which one is supposed to have the better transfer? I had nearly the same experience with A Clockwork Orange but I thought 2001 looked better.

I 2nd Close Encounters of the Third Kind. The movie literally looks like it was filmed 2 days ago at times, its not supposed to look this good, but it does.

Although I agree with many of the posts here, my personal demo favorite is the John Wayne film, THE SEARCHERS. Although I am not a big fan of the film, the HD transfer is just outstanding.
I love to show the opening to my guests since this is a 50-year old movie and this transfer makes it look better than many current ones.

Agree on The Searchers, that has long been my fav (though I don't have it on BD). Man On Fire is just tremendous, that may be my favorite Fox transfer yet.

They're identical, same codec/bitrates and everything.Originally Posted by kakihara1

Yeah, with so many high-quality PQ/AQ releases out there, it's easy to stick to good movies versus those that are mere eye and ear candy.
