I just placed my last order with the Amazon 10% discount. Mostly blu-ray (Queen in HD-DVD since I didn't want to wait 4 weeks for the BD version).

It's a double-edged sword. I bought much more than I ever would have because of the discount.

I put my last order in yesterday - for Carlito's Way. Thought I might be getting in for Christmas but it didn't happen.

Still have about 20 standing pre-orders with the discount active.

Hmm, I think the proper term is "envy". One is "jealous" of what one has and fears losing. One is "envious" of what others have.

The Amazon offer was open to all, for a number of months. It's not our fault that some here chose not to buy into HD in 2006.

Tell me about it. They gave you the 10% off of the full price of the free movie as well so I ended up buying many for $8 each.

I bought into HD from day one and this 10% discount and solid Amazon prices and B1G1 sales has made it an easy transition to HD.

I will definitely miss it. I ordered the Pixar Collection and Bonnie and Clyde as my last act with the 10% off.

So wait...is it over? If not, how do I get it? I'd like to get that Pixar Collection myself.

I wasn't jealous of the 10% off. I was aware it was happening but at the time I had ZERO plans of spending $500.00 for an HD player.

I'm literally sitting here trying to talk myself into buying a couple of the BOGO DVDs...

Actually, you did not have to do that to get the 10%. All you had to do was buy either 3 HD-DVDs or 3 Blu Rays. That is how I received the discount.

I will miss the discount which by the way completely paid for that initial order of 3 discs over two fold.

True, but if you didn't plunk down the $500 for a player in 2006 you had little incentive to buy the movies to qualify for the offer. I still consider it money well spent.

With me, I could have spent 1/2 of what I did on an HD DVD and Blu-Ray player last year if I waited until this year.

But my 10% savings come very close to adding up to that difference. So I got into HDM a year earlier for pretty much the same money as if I had waited until 2007.

In the end, I am an HT and film enthusiast, and to me it's always worth it to have the best presentation possible as soon as possible.

I'm still trying to ferret out all of the pre-orders that Amazon has available. Is there a list someplace, or a search trick to find them on their site?

Placed an order for Gone Baby Gone and Into The Wild... I had a few more things I wanted to order but my credit card is full, so I only ordered stuff that won't ship for a while because hopefully by then I'll have some more cash... I really hope that tomorrow the discount just doesn't turn off....or ever.

Exactly... Well one good thing, looks like Ill be able to maybe stick with my budgeting resolution this year.
