Bunkaroo, that's the same thing that happened to me over the summer. I hit the $500 mark pretty early and I had to write emails to customer service. I continued to receive the 10% off until last Monday but it was much harder to take advantage of since one email per order was involved.

Is this $500 thing real or just someones speculation? There is no way I even came close to $500 in discounts.
It seems like a lot of people had it end on or around 1/1/08 (was this the magical date of it stopping?). Should I be contacting Amazon to continue getting the discount?

For those that still have the discount, I think that perhaps it is due to items that were flagged as being part of the 10% off still being flagged as such and your account still being marked to get it.
If any new additions to amazon (like Unbreakable on Blu-ray) end up showing up with the 10% off, then I think something odd is going on

I cancelled a few pre-orders (in the wake of recent events), and it seems like that freed up some discount dollars for me.
I placed a couple of new orders and got the full 10% on one and then a little less than 10% on the other, and the nothing on the third order.

As recent as two weeks ago, I had to cancel my pre-order for Before The Devil Knows You're Dead and replace the order since the updated date didn't kick in on my order. When I replaced the order, the partial discount left over from the previous order showed up again.
