Take HD drive from Toshiba HD-A3 and put in PC?

From a picture I just saw on the internet, I gather the HD-A3 has a Toshiba HD DVD-Rom inside hooked up to computer-like components. Has anyone tried taking the DVD-Rom out from this model (or the HD-a2) and hooking it up as a HDDVD-Rom on their computer? Does that work?!

This was asked a while back, and I don't think you can. I don't remember what the actual reason was behind it - it may have had something to do with encryption. Apparently the connector is different as well.

However, this was before Vista was released, so maybe it was just not being recognized with XP, or it needed drivers. I know the Xbox 360 add-on drive works great with Vista - you just plug it in. You still need player software such as a recent version of PowerDVD to play the movies though.
