One or two people on AVS are reporting some problems getting their local KMart to honor these coupons for the PS3 - something to do with the Sears Home Electronics exclusion printed on the coupon (which doesn't really make any sense despite the common ownership of both KMart and Sears). I am really tempted to go purple with this deal and the Amazon BOGO. Maybe KMart will simply deny me and thus make my decision easier....

I would just pick a cashier who looks to speak very little English
It should work all the time
People said that it should work since it scans successfully w/ the coupon. It's just a matter of the cashier now.

I hear you. The only thing that gives me pause is that one of the AVS posters tried and failed at the very store that is local to me. I'm going to give it a shot anyway...

We're planning on buying an 80gb PS3 for Christmas. And it just happens that I have a sister that works at Kmart - I just sent her an email to see what she knows!

But hopefully your sister is cool, doesn't talk to any manager types, and kill this deal for everyone in the country.

Got a 40 gig for $320 + tax. She was surprised because it was such a deal but went through without a hitch
Now the question is, am I missing anything by not getting the 80 gig. I have NO interest in PS2 gaming. Once the DVR functioning comes out I'll be able to get a 120 gig HD or higher for the $85 price difference that I saved and putting in is a snap. Now the only question remaining is the absence of USB ports. Videos, pictures, and music, I can stream, so that's not a big deal (and I guess I can also burn to DVD and just have it read it 4 gigs at a time). The only concern then that remains is gamesaves. I suck at gaming so I use gamesaves I download from the Internet (for solo gaming, not online gaming). Can saves be read from a CD or DVD or can they be streamed or can they be transferred from a PSP, which I have?
Think the 40 gig PS3 will be enough?

I checked out 4 stores in the Tampa area, none had the 40gb this morning. 3 had the 80gb and 2 had the 60gb, all for $499. Right away I found the original coupon in the pharmacy section. I'm not sure these stores routinely stock the 40gb anyways.

I was able to get a 40 GB PS3 for $319 at the Milford Ma Kmart today. Used a coupon printed off Slickdeals. Went to the "Teenager who is clueless and doesn't give a crap" cashier, so she wasn't looking to play hardball with the coupon.
By the way, the store had none of the 40GB on the floor, but a bunch were in the storage room and were brought out when I asked. All stores should have these on hand somewhere, as the 40GB is prominently displayed in this week's flyer.

I found a 160 gig for $57 after $100 rebate!!
http://www.3gplaza.com/estore/contro...101&srccode=PW
So I guess the breakdown is:
$431 with Motorstorm
$345 with movie
$30 Motorstorm
$57 160 gig hard drive
$432, and includes movie, and double the hard drive space.
So I'm giving up BC for the movie and double the hard drive space.
Right choice?

IMO, the hard drive space is nothing to be concerned about. Being that it is user upgradable, hard drive prices constantly decreasing, and even 40GB being enough for years, I see no reason to worry about this. Maybe hard drive size will matter if the PS3 will be used for DVR'ing, but that isn't an option now (in the US, at least).
And the movie is worth about $15 at most, given the rapant Blu-Ray sales.
I wouldn't sacrifice BC for $15 and hard drive space (which, to me, isn't an issue at all).

I was going to go format neutral a few weeks ago, then changed my mind. But, upon finding out about this deal, I thought why the hell not. So I got my brother to go half in, and took the coupon to kmart, and got the ps3 for 345 out the door. Still prefer hd dvd though but at least now I have more of a selection.

Kmart around the Northern Virginia area seems to be out of the 40GB. However found an 80GB for $499 - $100 (coupon scanned without a problem). $420 out the door.

Neither of my two local Kmarts had any 40GBs. By the looks of their "electronics" department, I'm wagering that neither has ever seen a PS3 (nor a mop, but I digress). I'm hearing rumors of $200 BD players at Wally's for Black Friday. Crossing my fingers...

A friend of a friend works for Circuit City. Evidently they will have some sort of BluRay player on sale for $379 on Black Friday. I have no other details than that, not even a model number, or if it is some variation of the PS3... you can obviously take it with a big ol' grain of salt as I am getting this info second hand.
