It's a highly glossy, awesome looking box housing the 3 discs with a slipcase overtop of it...so you slide off the slipcase and have the better looking box underneath it - very classy looking packaging IMO.

What are the differences between the Bluray and HD DVD versions of the Ocean's boxsets? I wanna order it from DD this week, but not sure which format to choose.

They're identical AFAIK, except oceans 13 on HD DVD is a combo.

HD DVD's may have DD+, cause the BDs have DD... could make a difference for some.

There's nothing really new in O11 - the 2 commentaries as on the DVD, trailer, and the fluff HBO promo. But O12 (I actually did like this one) now has commentary by Soderburgh and the screenwriter and 30 minutes of deleted scenes, trailer, and another HBO promo. So that's a good upgrade from the DVD release - for those into 12. O13 sports 2 exclusives omitted from the DVD release - that being commentary by Soderburgh and the screenwriters, and a featurette called Masters of the Heist, which says it recalls real life sophisticated heists. It's 45 minutes long and is told through some reenactments and pictures of the thiefs. Pretty insteresting and strange, but worth a look.

Edit: Movieman, I did see some at Fry's for both HD and BD (I opted for BD), but none at the Best Buy's or Circuit City's in the Austin stores I went to.

Dangit, I want this set now, lol. I wasn't a big fan of O12, but I like Soderbergh's commentaries...

Warner used 640k on HD and BD. No difference. They're identical other then one of the 3 discs being a combo disc on HD DVD.

I'd still like to see images if anyone can take pics. Perhaps this is a stupid question, but is the HD box the same size as the smaller HD cases? I love the sleek, small, space-saving cases in which my HD DVDs come.

Well, I e-mailed Deep Discount about the delay and they said it's expected to ship 11/23. I have enough HD-DVDs to go through anyway, but I'm really looking forward to some of these features.

I popped in Thirteen and was indeed underwhelmed.

However, I also threw in 11 and it looked fantastic. The scene at the horse track is one I skipped to and it looked great.

Well, at least O11 will look great... Is the O13 video distractingly underwhelming?

I actually posted in another thread (the Frys sales thread I think) and yes, I thought that the disc was way below average. My main gripe is with the audio treatment but the video treatment is just as lacking - detail is anything but impressive, and for the most part I was not impressed with the color reproduction either.

I thought the theatrical presentation was similar so it might be as intended.

The theater I saw it in was a new DLP cineam and it looked decidely average at best with some scenes that looked fairly awful. Al Pacino's first appearance I recall looking like he was spray painted with some horrible fake tan. Color reproduction was a mess in some scenes, soft, grainy. I only recall a handful of scenes, mostly closeups, that looked decent.

Anybody know if this was shot with a digital camera? Those night scenes in O13 reminded me of Collateral where just about all of those night scenes had that soft grainy look. Particular at the end where they are in Jada Pinkett's law office

Got the trilogy today in the mail. Can't wait to check out 11 and 13 tonight (I'll probably just see the bonus features on 12 later).

Can you guys confirm PQ issues on the O12. Especially the first 10 minutes. 2 scenes come to mind.

1. Benedict coming to visit Tess
2. SOL getting his credit card back all cut at the restaurant/club when the waiter tells him that mr. benedict cancelled his credit

the PQ on my disc is just awful

Ok, I just watched O13 tonight and while the PQ wasn't all that great, I don't think it was the transfer, more of how Soderbergh shot it.

Still worth getting the trilogy set for the exclusive extras but I certainly wouldn't use it to show off my HT.

Ocean's 13 had the worst transfer I have ever seen. Bleeding reds...just plain awful!

I saw this while it was in the theaters and it never looked this bad.

How is the blueray case for the trilogy box set? Is it anything like the standard DVD set box? I really hope it's not just a slipcase. The standard DVD box is so cool!
