Is there such a thing as a HD-DVD/Blue Ray player?

A machine that plays both HD-DVDs and Blue Ray DVDs? If so, where can I find one and how much are they? Thanks guys for your help.

LG's really crappy player: http://www.jr.com/JRProductPage.process?Product=4171331 (Slow, expensive, and crippled [it won't play some HD-DVD special features])

The most news anyone's heard on the new Samsung player: http://www.theinquirer.net/en/inquir...vd-combo-plans

I would just go for the cheapest PS3, and a stand-alone HD-DVD player.

If you have enough inputs, it's cheaper to just buy a PS3 and a lower cost HD-DVD player... though even with the sub $200 HD-DVD deals I still haven't jumped on one... I think mostly because I don't have the inputs until I buy a new receiver I'm sort of holding out hope that everyone will decide to release on Blu next year...

And I'm hoping that I hit the lottery

A $399 PS3 and a $99 Toshiba A2 will work better than some terrible $999 combo player. Hell, they'll work better (probably) than a $499 combo player.

Or for that matter, HD-DVD.

It's like a Compact player, but for high definition video instead of audio.

The new LG player looks pretty nice...but I'd pass and just get an A2/A3 and a PS3. Half the price of a combo + 10 free by mail + whatever promo the local store is running

Samsung's dual-format player is due out mid December. It'll be fully HD DVD compatible with HDi, and will have BD-J capability and be BD Profile 1.1 "ready," with a firmware upgrade expected in January for full BD Profile 1.1 compatability.

Some recent news on it:
http://www.electronichouse.com/artic...player_better/
http://www.tgdaily.com/content/view/34532/97/

This site has more specs, and currently has it on sale for $779.99
http://www.onsale.com/shop/detail~dp...~220.0000.aspx

It looks like regular retail will be around $1000.

Oh, and the specs on the onsale.com site says it can output 1080p/24fps.
