Went out and picked up 2 players, one for my main room and another for the bedroom. Looked like they had maybe 15 or so.

The Walmart here in Boise was limiting the A2s to one per customer. There was a pretty good line already formed, so I don't know if it was a spur-of-the-moment decision, but it's a good thing they did.

I got to my walmart 20 mins. late, 2 guys had 6 A2's and there were none to be seen, then the clerk went in back and brought out a dozen, so I was able to grab one. Went back about an hour later and there were 8 A2's just sitting there.

FYI, at 9am this morning, the Bloomington (IN) WalMart had 8 of the original 10 units still on display. The store was hardly busy, and there were no shoppers hanging around either the A2 display or the HD-DVD display. I'll bet they're all still sitting there.

I got to WM at 7:50 and the line was 30 deep, but I was lucky to grab one. This will make a very nice gift packaged with the $20 CC Matrix box (and a copy of the latest firmware ISO lol).
Now where is the Amazon Universal BOGO, bring it on!

The A2 at Wal-Mart has an HDMI cable included in the box. I bought one this morning and held on to one for a friend of mine until he showed up. The store manager came around and said, "You're going to hate me." I asked him why and he cited the law in Oklahoma that prevents stores from selling items below cost, so the price of the player, even though they had a sign over the display that said $98.87, was actually going to be $189.00. Then he quickly said since I was there early and had been waiting, he'd sell me the player for the advertised price. Since they advertised it for that price in the store, he had too. That's a law too.
That said, I'm a Blu-Ray supporter, through and through, but $100 was just too cheap to not go neutral. And I'm very happy for doing so.

I got to my about 6:50am. Around 8am, the line was about 30-40 people deep and most were there to get the A2 (they had about 30 laptops and only 2 people in the line were interested in them, nobody said a single word about the 50" plasma).
At 8am, they put out 16 A2s and I snagged 2 of them along with copies of Clerks 2, Blood Diamond, Lucky Number Slevin, Sleepy Hollow, Casino, and 12 Monkeys for $14 a pop.
I wasn't going to partake in this format war, but for $99, HD-DVD got me.

I picked up Full Metal Jacket, Italian Job and 12 Monkeys.

The player has S-video and composite outputs, as well as l/r rca audio.
Even if they have an older TV, they should still be able to hook the player up.

But glad to see there is so much interest for HD-DVD.

However it's better than them hooking it up and not working at all. Imagine their delight when they do replace their TV and hook their "old" hd dvd player up to it....

I am Sincerely Very Happy for ALL of you that got in on this G-R-E-A-T deal!
But the greatest of thanks goes to ScissorPuppy, who without him, many of us would not have known of such a wonderful surprise.
('I' on the otherhand, looking at the clock, but feeling the tender warmth and softness of my memory foam bed, pillows, comforter, and last but not least, most squengy & cuddily woman, woke up late, had to go to the bank (ATM), and well, needless to say (but I will for added drama), didn't get one.)

A little more, but still a great deal!

The demand in Oak Ridge TN was not as great. My mom went by since both my brother and me were at work. She got 3 players no problem and checked out 3 times for rebate reasons. One for my brother, one for my sister and a spare for me. This will be the first Hi Def players for my sister and brother. If my mom and dad will upgrade to HD, I will give them that A2.
