Wow. It's really interesting to see the variation between reviews for part one's image quality. While the Talk's own Supermallet (my friend and yours) gives it a paltry 2 stars, dvdfile just posted a review wherein they describe it as the most filmlike transfer of the bunch.

Too bad The Spider-Man Trilogy wont play on my Blu-Ray player. I hate the Samsung BD P1000. It wouldnt play Fantasic Four Silver Surfer either. Ive had combo disc problems with my HD player, but 4 of the last Blu's ive bought wont play. Really wanted to watch Spidey in HD today, what a bummer. The only disc that worked was the Special Features on the 2disc. Taking it back.

I picked up the set at Best Buy yesterday for $60.99. I was able to watch Spider-man last night and while it is definitely an improvement over the dvd, I wasn't blown away by it. But it has never looked that good, imo.
FYI, Target also has the set for $69.99 but they have a different packaging. They are using 1 large BD case to hold all the discs + slipcover, whereas everyone else has a cardboard box with each film getting their own separate BD case.

$59.99 at Fry's. If Amazon hadn't already shipped my $58 copy, I probably would have picked up at Frys. Normally Amazon takes a week or so to ship new releases to me.

I watched Spidey 1 and was overall very pleased. Some of the night scenes (especially that 1st chase) were lacking a little detail, but the day scenes looked very nice. Then I popped in a little of Spidey 3, WOW! This could be the new king!

I watched Spider-Man 3 last night and enjoyed it a lot more than I did in the theatre. I don't know I suppose all the hype I had for it originally wasn't there to spoil it for me. Pretty good movie. I wasn't all that impressed with the PQ. The movie looked like it was shot intentionally soft.

I said screw the extras and just bought the trilogy. I still have my dvd gift boxes for 1 and 2 and have never even touched disc 2 so no extras doesn't bother me one bit.

I really disliked Transformers in the theater, but I found myself liking the scenes I previewed at home. I hope it will be the same for Spidey 3.
And I won't double-dip the first 2 unless they are given better transfers. Don't care about the lack of extras - I already owned the Superbit versions of 1 and 2.

personally, I thought all the non-action scenes for both Spidey 3 and Transformers were awful. But for pure demo material and sfx, these films delivered.

Just watched Spiderman 3 in Blu-ray, and (since I had not seen it at all before now) I liked it more than I thought I would. The PQ was amazing, of course, and the little I have seen of the Blu-ray versions of 1 and 2 look great. For now, I'll be keeping the standard DVDs for the bonus features, although I have not watched the extras since I first got the discs.

I'm eager to watch these but Amazon only shipped my copy tonight (the shipping estimate was for yesterday so I don't know what happened). So I won't have it until early next week (hopefully). I'm sure I'll like Spider-man 3 a little more on disc since it won't be such a crushing blow to me this time.

what did everyone think of the pic quality of the ending to Spidey 1? I swear, that whole scene looked like I was almost watching an upconverted dvd. When they re-release this as a fully loaded SE, I hope they completely remaster it.

Ive downloaded the firmware file from the website but I cant seem to figure out how to turn it into a readable disc for the player. I guess its me. I just wish they sent update discs to me like Toshiba does for the HD DVD player.

Havent been able to watch mine yet because of the fiancee.
But I had the same problem when I was trying to watch, 28 Days Later. It told me that my system couldnt support the new functions established or some non-sence like that.
What really was going on was that every 3-5 minutes the sound would cut out for a fraction of a second... you know - just enough to piss me off.
I did the same as above stated. Went to Sony's Website and TRIED to follow the instructions they left for putting this to disc so i could get the newest firmware (1.92)
NO DICE!
I really would like for Sony to update their site with corrected instructions/support on getting this to work.

My player is a early modle Samsung. The website has a downloadable firmware but i can get it to format correctly onto a disc that the player will recognize. I would actually be willing to buy an update disc if it was available!
