The IMAX version was worthless in terms of the added footage. But seeing the city battle scene on the huge screen was worth every penny.

Sorry, I misworded my post. The slipcover is for the single disc DVD. As far as I know, the HD DVD doesn't have any sort of slipcover. Not saying it wont happen, though (given both PotC films had slipcovers on their BD releases so it's not unlikely the same might eventually happen on HD DVD, even if from another studio).

Most likely released to coincide with the release of the sequel.

I like the HD DVD cover but I wish the "2- disc special set" banner were a sticker on the shrinkwrap rather than part of the art itself.

Same here. I like slipcovers because they provide a bit of protection to the case itself. Plus, I also don't care for the cover art. The movie is called Transformers, yet the cover shows only Prime. I'd like to have seen at least Megatron on there facing him.

Yeah, if there is no slipcover, I may be going for a custom cover.

Mine all ended up in the trash a while ago. And here I am debating whether I should throw away all my cases altogether and put my movies in a folder or sleeves. :foot:

I used to keep every bit of packaging and took pride in displaying it. I used to watch the occasional special feature too. I guess my priorities have changed. :(

Yeah, im PO'd about that too, BUT King Kong had an awesome audio track and it was + only.

Im confident it will sound great anyways. Bummer, but not a deal breaker for me.

That's exactly how the 2-Disc DVD cover is. It's a clear packaging with the Transformers logo on the front. The back with the bonus features and such is just a piece of paper that slides out if you want.

Next and Top Gun both received a Dolby TrueHD track.

I can't understand why they won't include TrueHD in their top titles but second tier titles get TrueHD. Do they have their priorities mixed up or what?

Looking at the case spine, Paramount didn't do the home video release. Dreamworks did. So, despite the fact that Paramount gave Top Gun a TrueHD track, it's Dreamworks that dropped the ball on Transformers.

Paramount uses 150p kb/s DD+. Even professional Hollywood sound mixers will tell you that is audibly transparent to the master.

This infatuation with specs above actual quality is ridiculous.

Does that hold true for Dreamworks discs? Cos they're the ones that made this HD DVD (at least, if the spine on the disc is to be believed). If it does, that'd be sweet. :D

What's all this talk of a True HD track? How come no one is complaining it doesn't at least have a PCM track? Wouldn't you prefer that over DD+?

HD DVD discs do not include PCM tracks only Blu-ray does.

Dolby TrueHD is lossless, as is PCM. The only difference is that TrueHD has a variable bitrate, while PCM has a constant bitrate. Thus TrueHD takes up less space on the disc than PCM does, while providing the same sound.

Yes, Dreamworks titles are distributed through Paramount.

Then people should be really pissed that it doesn't have PCM because using a lof of space is something so awesome. Imagine 60GB on one disc!
