Sonuva.... Look like this one is gonna be relegated to Netflix for me.
|
honestly though, it wasn't even a good movie to begin with.... an extra spurt of blood, a few more expletives, wouldn't have helped it in the slightest... sorry I know that's a thread crap, but I really expected a lot more from this movie.
|
I thought LFODH was decent, but since this is not the R rated version, im not getting it. Ill get the trilogy and probably rent the 4th one. If they come out with an unrated version in the future, ill snag it.
FOX you lost out on ALOT of sales for this one. I have no confidence in FOX. |
Oh well, looks like I'll just pick up the original Trilogy on BD and the SD of DH4. They should've used seamless branching on this like they did with AVP.
|
I liked LFODH but there's no point in buying this BD when the Unrated BD is inevitable (barring BD+ being cracked ;)).
I'll get the trilogy and not buy any version of LFODH. |
Is there more to the "Unrated" cut other than different audio cues that no longer obscure the swearing?
|
from what I read they were digitally adding blood spurts to the gun shots/body impacts.
|
You guys have it all wrong. If the R-rated material was shown in HD, it would have been NC-17 because it would look so realistic an icky. They are doing everyone a favor.
|
you forgot a sarcasm smiley Thor
|
Normally a bunch of internet whinings about the ratings would mean nothing, but considering how few people actually buy Blu Ray discs, the lack of an unrated option may realistically hurt sales. There definitely will be some lost sales.
|
I'm hoping Fox comes to their senses and releases the unrated cut. They can't even be thinking double dipping at this point since HDM is still trying to gain a foothold in people's homes so I'm very puzzled why they're giving us a kick in the nuts.

Fox, you should worry about the sales of THIS disc and not one in the future. Who knows though, with this type of attitude, their double-dip might be on hd-dvd. :p |
As others have touched upon, I'm also guessing we're going to see a lot more of this, since studios usually have to prep a rated (be it PG-13, R, whatever) hi-def version for cable. So since Fox has to provide an HD PG-13 version anyway, they apparantly don't want to take the time to do an HD Unrated version as well.
They made my purchasing choice a lot easier though...just going with the standard Unrated version. |

Man, people are still eating up the whole unrated marketing gimmick.
Seriously, are an added "fuck" and some digital blood that important? |

Seriously, are an added "fuck" and some digital blood that important? But with something like Knocked Up, I'd agree. I will be picking up the HD version unrated or not, even though as I said a few posts ago, the picture on Amazon has it as Unrated. |
Just because its "unrated" doesn't mean its going to "R" level or more. It just means they're making a new cut and not submitting it to the MPAA for review. Could be a very similar movie, with minor differences, and they're using the "unrated" as a marketting ploy for kids who like to here the F-word....

Don't worry, the unrated will be available next year day and date with the individual releases of the movies in the triple pack, this time all in steel book packaging and special slipcovers w/o inserts. Haven't you guys been paying attention to Fox Home Video for the last 10 years?
;) |
I was on the fence about this release since I have yet to see it, but this news pushed me firmly into the rental camp.
|
Well, no R-rated version makes this release meaningless to me. Now the Fox exclusivity means less then ever. Once you are used to R-rated versions, anything else is simply rubbish IMO. Thanks to Fox for softening the blow.

The worst was when Olyphant said...."I was crucified" (his lips said "fucked"). Everyone assumed there would be an unrated version, but we all thought it would make its way to BD day/date. Someone in the BD insider camp better get this message to FOX if they want this to compete with the big titles of the holiday season. |

Even if they just restore the original dialog to the film (which was overdubbed theatrically), I think this would get an R. So, in this particular case, unrated does mean "R level". |

Now, whether or not that dub is removed in the unrated version remains to be seen, but I would think it is. |
