The French release of Mulholland Dr. definitely suffers from the high pitch problem. I watched the film at least 10 times on SD-DVD. I watched the HD-DVD and as soon as Laura Herring started talking at the beginning, I knew there was a problem.

Here's hoping for a US release soon!

speaking of malfunction cinema -

Does anyone body know why The Fog and Elephant Man doesnt work on my XBox360 add-on?

It plays the preview startup and the menu board - but as soon as it loads the 'Studio Canal' logo sequence pops up they BOTH freeze. No sound and it freezes on the logo.

You cant load it from the scene index either - Tried. Failed. loneliness consumed.

This really seems like how Seth MacFarlane comes up with things for an episode of 'The Family Guy'.

'Ey Quagmire - It was like the time we watched the E! True Hollywood Story of Alvin and the Chipmunks'

insert your quote here as you see Alvin in a VIP Area of Scores...

I have the French import, too and it seems fine to me.

Hmm, does this maybe mean that there was a problem with the pressing of these discs?

Kinda like the whole 300 fiasco?

I know they arent combo, but thats the only comparison that comes to mind right now.

I don't know, but I compared mine to the SD-DVD and there was a difference. I ordered mine from Xploited Cinema the first day they had it online, so maybe there is a difference between early pressings and later ones.

Has anyone read any reviews of the French Mulholland Dr. HD?

The French edition of Mulholland Drive most certainly has high pitch. I think Overpar is just not sensitive to it.

Thanks for the offer, bro.

But I'll end up just getting a different player here shortly.

I'd actually like to get a dual format player.

Looks like we have our first foreign TV series release on HD DVD! "Femmes de Loi" season 1 from France. It looks like no English dub or sub. If anyone finds anything otherwise, let us know. There are some clips of it on youtube.

Pro-bassoonist indicated in the Blu-ray News thread that "Kingdom of Heaven" will be released on HD DVD in Italy by distributer Medusa. Apparently, the details are pretty sparse right now, so no indication as to whether or not any of the features from the 4-disc "Director's Cut" DVD will be included,or, for that matter, if there'll be forced Italian subtitles gunking up the pretty pictures. At any rate, much thanks to Pro-B for the news!

Wow, that is awesome news!! Kingdom of Heaven was one of the titles swaying to buy a PS3. I hope that HD-DVD is the extended version. I couldn't careless about extras I'll just hold onto the DVD.

There's a thread over on AVS where a bunch of Blu-ray fanboyz are crowin' that Ridley Scott put the kybosh on the HD DVD release:

Blah, let's not get into the whole Blu-Boyz thing.

Just skimming, I don't see anyone saying that there won't be an HD DVD release, though. Beatboy77 must be a blood relation of DrDon's or must be holding something really incriminating on him for the mods to continually encourage his parade of worthless tripe.

According to Pro-B, the news was that there would be a dual format release instead of just HD DVD exclusive. Medusa has apparently been HD DVD exclusive, but apparently Scott wanted the release to be on Blu-ray. Apparently nothing is solid, either, and it sounds pretty unclear as to just what Scott's position was: whether he'd made a request or a demand. If he truly was against releases of his films on HD DVD, one must wonder how he feels about Warner's impending dual-format release of "Blade Runner".

I would doubt the disc will contain any of the extras from the DVD. Those features were created by and are owned by Fox.

Medusa are part of the big three.

I don't know how much you follow the Italian market but 80% of my Italian collection comes precisely from the trio mentioned above: MEDUSA-ITALIA, O1 Distribution, and Cecchi Gori are all HDDVD exclusive. Granted two of them are touted to become neutral if and when MEDUSA release Kingdom of Heaven a red version will be available.

More importantly Mr.Scott's move came right after the HD Group stated that the big three in Italy will remain exclusive. On the contrary what I read at DVDEssential's forum indicates a different stance.

Regardless, I have zero interest in Kingdom of Heaven but will report the day when it becomes available.

Ciao,
Pro-B

PTC - Thats another title I'm sure NewLine Cinema will release almost day and date with the other titles coming with HairSpray ('07).

It was one of the first titles avaliable at launch with DVD.
