Question about the 5 free HD DVD offer

Okay, I was looking at my toshiba A-2 box and there are like 3 different stickers that look like a upc. Which one do i remove and send? I need to get this out this month so i can get my free 5 hd dvd's. So can someone please send me a screenshot or something of which to send.

The UPC sticker will have 12 digits on it. I'd start there.

I actually cut the one out that is part of the box itself because the sticker one looked a little flimsy. There seem to be a lot of UPCs on stuff now so it can be a little confusing. However, they should all have the same numbers and be essentially the same.

All,

If you don't know, be advised that any Universal titles you select with this offer will have their cases and art intentionally disfigured when you get them.

Instead of doing a hole punch through the UPC like most civilized people, Universal is using something like a soldering iron to literally burn through the shrink, case and art to mar the barcode.

I just got mine this week and I had three Uni titles, and all were mangled in this fashion.

WB and Paramount somehow saw fit to not do this.

Yet another big middle finger from Universal to its customers.

Universal didn't do this on the 3 free HD DVD thing. Sucks they decided to do that now on this deal. It would bug me to no end.

Wow, can someone else confirm that this happened to them?

If you have the time, check out one of the threads at AVS. I actually heard about it before I got mine so I wasn't totally shocked, but the damage was worse than I expected. I almost tore off part of the cover art just trying to take the shrink off.

As stated by darkside, they didn't do this when I got my 3 free earlier this year.

EDIT: Here's the first mention of it in an AVS thread:

http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showt...&#post11030488

The thread goes on to show multiple people complaining of this.

^^^^^

That's what mine looked like, but on the back. The above was likely a mistake doing the wrong side, but nevertheless shows what kind of damage they're doing.

I'm surprised they haven't burned through to the disc and ruined that too.

WTF is with that Universal? Thats insane. Just punch a hole through the UPC, don't destroy the case.

It's probably quicker to do it their way. I'm no fan of it, but it's not a big deal to me either. As long as its on the back of the case.

has anyone tried contacting the product replacement of these studios that ship this product out?

I'm sure if a petition is signed they would just go about punching holes in the upc anyways.

I guess they are just taking these products directly off the shelves and instead of taking the shrink wrap off they just disfigure the product - less time consuming.

But I would be interested in seeing what the company says about this.

This is kinda off-topic but I tried searching for the thread and didn't find it. Can anyone tell me what titles were available for the free Blu-Ray discs offer when you bought a player?

Just like the HD-DVD offer, you have to choose one title in each group.

Group 1:
Guardian
Pearl Harbor
Invincible
Chicken Little

Group 2:
Corpse Bride
Phantom of the Opera
Blazing Saddles

Group 3:
Stealth
Resident Evil 2
Underworld Evolution
Stir of Echoes

Group 4:
Italian Job
Black Rain
Babel
Devil's Rejects

Group 5:
Kiss of the Dragon
Omen 666
Transporter 2
Species
Hart's War
Last Waltz
