Ah, thanks for the info regarding the lack of subtitles.

Also I noticed that Xploited Cinema has updated their Blu-Ray releases section with many import titles. Didn't even know a lot of those were scheduled to come out for Blu-Ray.

http://xploitedcinema.com/catalog/bl...iscs-c-36.html

*Abba: The Movie
*Almost Famous
*Capricorn One
*Perfume: Story Of A Murderer
*The Protege (Andy Lau)
*Revolver (Guy Ritchie)
*Sukiyaki Western Django (Takashi Miike)

+ a handful of others

Almost Famous is a good disc but not great. It is the longer cut of the film. Video is good but not great and sound is a little light except for when the band is playing.

Perfume (assuming it's like the HD DVD transfer) looks amazing.

Sukiyaki Western Django has no English subs.

What's the difference in the two versions?

Don't know yet. I just watched the rated version for the first time about a month ago.

I'll be watching this pretty soon after I get it, so hopefully any changes will be readily apparent to me.

One nice thing - the import has a TrueHD 6.1 track vs. DD+ 5.1 on the domestic HD DVD.

...sukiyaki is filmed in english, oddly. apparently its not difficult to understand, and the disc looks superb. plus, according to news, the films international releses may all be a shorter cut of the film.

Tai Seng Entertainment has announced that they will bring the Hong Kong martial arts film 'Dragon Tiger Gate' to Blu-ray on May 27th. Specs include a 7.1 Cantonese track, as well as 5.1 Mandarin and English tracks. Extras include an audio commentary, multiple featurettes, deleted scenes, interviews, photo gallery, and premiere highlights.

This title was original due to be released exclusively for HD DVD on the same date, but with Blu-ray being declared the victor of the format war, Tai Seng Entertainment has decided a Blu-ray release is more appropriate.

I wouldn't get too excited, Arpeggi. It was such a poor film that I'm not sure seeing it in high-def can help things...

Definitely interested in the Proposition, though.

I've seen the film (got the R3 dvd) and I like it. Should look awesome in HD.

Cosmic Bus 03-06-08 01:33 AM

No worries! I certainly hope it's a nice transfer for folks who did enjoy the movie. :)
