Per Amazon's page on blu 'The Shining':
Note: This item is not immediately available to ship. (Usually ships within 5 to 6 weeks.)
(Same notation on the HD version as well.)
Happy Halloween!

I checked all the titles this morning and the only ones I saw "in stock" was Full Metal Jacket on Blu-ray and 2001 on HD DVD. The rest either ship in 8-10 days, or 5-6 weeks. Kudos to Warner Brothers.

Looks like I'm in the same boat as most everyone else re: Amazon Prime on these. At least 2001 is shipping soon, that's the one I can't wait for.
Doesn't look good for The Shining, but that & 2001 are in BB's flyer this week. I just did a quick check on BB on-line, & The Shining BD shows up in-stock at every one of my local stores. If you can't wait & don't mind paying $24.99 + tax, you might be able to get it there.

What is with Warner Bros and their title availability lately? Every major release seems to be hitting some sort of snag...

Off-topic, but I just got an E-Mail from Amazon that my long, long-ago ordered BD of Princess Bride which according to them was supposed to shop this week (DOH!) has been pushed back to December 27th....I'm not holding my breath on that one lol.

My order from Warner (2001, EWS and Shining HD-DVDs, along with the standard DVD box set and O Lucky Man for a friend) supposedly had shipped late last week, but it doesn't reflect that now unfortunately. Still, this would hardly be the first time I'm seeing these movies, so I can wait. It's not that big of a deal.

Just went and got all 5 at Best Buy. They did not have a lot of each - maybe 5-6 of each title.
Fry's was worthless as usual. All they had was the Shining on HD, other four HD DVD's and all 5 Blu-Ray's were nowhere to be found, and their computers did not show any coming in.
I'm going with the Harry Potter boxset in Decemeber since there's no way I want to deal with getting those piecemeal too. Fuckin' WB - why does the atudio with the best HDM title announcements have to have the worst fulfillment?

I am gonna wander over to Best Buy in a little bit, but I'm curious to see if they have them - my bets they aren't even out yet, as new release Tuesday is a joke, even the BR/HD-DVD racks are a wreck - compared to the Tyson's Corner BR and HD-DVD displays - Tenleytown's is a disaster.

I put in a Pick Up order into my local Best Buy this morning and I just received an e-mail saying that all 5 BD discs are available for pickup. Of course, we'll see what actually happens when I get to the store....

My order from WB just arrived as I was about to head out the door. Shining HD, 2001 HD, Eyes Wide Shut HD, and O Lucky Man -- but no Kubrick DVD boxset.

Shockingly, the Best Buy near work had them all waiting for me (after my pickup order). Now to wait for Amazon to send my just-purchased copy of Barry Lyndon on DVD....

my local Best Buy was sold out of Eyes Wide Shut on HD-DVD and didn't appear to even have had the new FMJ.

Funny, after all the delays I've heard about regarding http://www.warnervideo.com I received my copies of The Shining and Eyes Wide Shut before their release date.

After giving the three HD-DVDs I ordered a brief once-over...
2001 looks positively wonderful on HD. Crisp and clear, with a distinctive, almost three-dimensional appearance to many scenes, while retaining an extremely film-like transfer. Warner certainly knew this was going to be THE movie people would judge and put great care into it. I had a hard time not sitting down to watch the entire thing.
The Shining is a bit softer, particularly the opening and other outdoor shots, and looks to have a pinkish tint to the picture (the off-color tennis ball, here, in Beaver's DVD comparison is similarly colored in the HD-DVD and is one of the more noticable instances) but still a very appealing, detailed image overall.
Eyes Wide Shut is, unfortunately, not terribly impressive. Color seems quite "thick" and saturated, grain is heavy throughout, and noise is prevalent on many dark objects (suits, cloaks, smoke and shadows, etc) to my eye. Looks marginally better than my R3 unedited DVD (which is also heavily grained) but far from being any sort of high-def showpiece. The case mentions having both rated and unrated versions selectable, though I can't find any way to do so -- it appears uncensored by default -- and the previously promised commentary is neither listed on the case or anywhere on the disc. This is one of my favorite Kubrick films and such an incredibly visual one at that, so this is disappointing.

I went to get these at Movie Stop today. The cashier (who knows a lot about movies, it's not like working at CC or BB) said that WB has been very slow on getting Blu-rays to them. She said that they haven't gotten anything lately in time for release day.
So, I bought 2001 and CO (which I would have bought on BD) on HD instead. I have The Shining on order from Columbia House, so hopefully that ships soon.

Well, I couldn't wait... I bought Shining & EWS at BB, then cancelled those 2 at Amazon. I rationalized the move by saying that since I saved a ton of $$$ last week on the BOGO deals, it was OK to take a little hit here. Good news is the other 3 AND Sopranos 6.2 BDs all shipped & will be here tomorrow.

This Warner availability issue has been going on for a couple of months now. None of the Kubrick titles on both formats were available at my local Best Buy and WB still hasn't shipped my Smallville S6 on BR.
