Did you pick it up new or did you get it from the Sony replacement offer? I'm still waiting for my replacement one.

I have a PS3, and like BR, but am fairly negative on Sony. However, I have to give them kudos for doing the right thng and offering a replacement. I didn't buy the first one, but will get this one soon.

Question for anyone who sent in for their replacement...

Did you receive a new case/cover art for your remastered disc? My old copy is beat to hell and wondered if I could get new art/case for it via replacement.

If it comes to it, you can order replacement cases here.

The studio artwork is hideous. I found some custom artwork for the movie on one of the popular replacement cover sites, then resized and modified it for the Blu-ray. It turned out pretty good, but I can't take credit for the design so I wouldn't feel right posting it.

I received a new sealed case/cover art for my replacement. I was surprised, as I was just expecting to get the remastered disc itself back. Haven't gotten around to watching it yet.

Thanks! That's probably why the replacement email tells you not to send it out with your case/artwork. I did anyway

Also thanks for the response Josh. I was thinking about custom art for a couple of my HD releases. For Fifth Element though I just wanted to replace the beat-to-hell art and case from the previous owner (bought it used for $11).

Sent out my disc the other day, hopefully it won't be too long until I get my new copy.

Wow, that is pretty fast. How did you mail your disc to them? Priority?

I sent it to them Priority, hoping that I would get my replacement disc back faster.

I'm very pleased with how fast the turn around is for the shipping of replacement discs.

I sent my disc out via Priority last Wednesday and it was received last Saturday. I received an email today that it was shipped out (w/ tracking number) yesterday and I should get it by Friday.

Well I have some credit at gamestop but they have it for $24.99. Should I go for it? I think Fry's might have it for $19.95.

Oh BTW as someone who hasn't even bought any version before. How are the extras on the BD?

$24.99 is high, I'm sure you could get it cheaper elsewhere. If you have a Suncoast nearby that sells Blu-Ray/HD-DVD, check their used stuff (and in their Blu-Ray section). I got mine at a Suncoast for $11.99 used.

Also if you are going to get it make sure you check the back of the packaging for the listing of "True HD" (Corrected Version) in Audio Options

Suncoast wouldn't have the remastered blu-ray for $11.99 already now would they? I'll get it at fry's if I get it anywhere though. Yeah I made sure to know what to look for before I get it, but thanks for the reminder anyway.

Oops, I meant I got the original Blu-Ray release of the film for that price. Wasn't too bad seeing that I planned on shipping it for replacement anyway. In the end I probably spent about $17 on the original disc + shipping it back to Sony.

Fry's has had this included in several Buy 1 Get 1 free sales, so I'm planning on picking this up during the next sale. The price will be around $12 then.

There is a "Fact Track" and that's it. Unfortunately none of the extras from the "Ultimate Edition" were brought over to the BD disc.

Just got my new copy in the mail

As everyone has mentioned, it looks light years better than the original release.

I recieved mine in the mail today (ordered from Buy.com, not the Sony replacement) and it looks spectacular. I watched from the "multipass" segment to the end of the movie.

While I can't compare it to the original BD, I have watched the Superbit DVD time and time again, and the difference is astounding. It was like watching it for the first time all over again! So...yeah, 5/5 for me.

I know this is an old thread, but just a quick bump. I know there were issues with the first release of this movie. The newer improved version w/o the problems has "remastered" on the label, right?

I just picked it up from Best Buy and want to make sure it's not the crappy older version before I open it.

The sticker on top should tell you that it's Remastered.

Also, the back of the case mentions a Dolby TrueHD soundtrack (which the original release didn't have) and has Sony's "Full HD 1080" logo, which wasn't on the older release. If you see those two things, you're golden. And I have to say, the remastered BD looks fantastic.
