TMNT (HD DVD and Blu-Ray) in August

Why does the HD DVD version have to be a combo disc?
I also wish they'd used the theatrical one sheet instead. This coverart actually makes the film seem too lighthearted when it actually has a Batman: The Animated Series sort of vibe to it.
Also, given all the stuff Kevin Munroe had mentioned didn't make it into the final cut, I was hoping for more than two delete scenes, an alternate opening, and an alternate ending. Heck, I'd have accepted animatics just to get a gist of how the scenes he talked about would have played out.
And I find it odd that there's no mention of a PCM track for the Blu-Ray release.

Ah, you're right. It's just the way the article words it that threw me off. So there will be Dolby TrueHD for both.
But the artwork seriously needs to be revised. It doesn't need to be bleak or anything but, if they felt the need to go with new artwork for the cover, something in the vein of The Iron Giant Special Edition artwork would have been better. Or they simply should have stuck to the one sheet.

That's exactly it, matome. I also get a crappy direct-to-video vibe from it. I'm sure they chose the title to attract the kiddies but I think this may turn older kids off and (worse) it could possibly make people think it's a movie tie-in and not the actual feature. They really should go back to something more akin to the one sheet.
That and I really hate that it's a combo on HD DVD. I really wish Warner Bros. (and others) would quit making combo releases. If not, at least stop making standard DVDs and sell these combo discs at prices closer to that of the regular DVDs.

I hate this artwork...the original art, that was pretty much the one sheet (which I have framed in my home theatre room) was so much better...this does make it look cheesey and lame... A lot of my friends skipped this in the theatre, so they'll be over on the 7th to watch the BD, but if they get a load of that cover, it may take some more convincing...

That's the problem, mdc3000. I know they did this to attract kids to it but the original one-sheet did just that. They didn't need to make it look so godawful. The more I look at it, the more I hate it. It doesn't fit with the tone of the film at all. It's as if someone had chosen to slap a Super Friends style cover to Batman : Mask Of The Phantasm.

The movie was decent, better than the other Turtles films in the past. The film itself did have that cheesy Saturday morning vibe to it most the time but was still dark and plenty cool.
I don't know I liked this enough to buy just the HD-DVD version of it but if it's a combo disc... why the hell not.

This one's a no brainer for me on blu-ray. When you first get into this stuff, you're gonna buy any "decent" action movie that comes out. And I didn't see it in theatres. .

This film was a whole lot of fun and the animation was very good. The rain fight in particular should look very good in HD. So my bitching about the cover (crappy though it may be) and the fact that it's a combo disc aside, I'll definitely be buying the HD DVD once it streets.

This might be the final straw that makes me finally jump in on HD. It's the first film I haven't seen that I wanted to purchase. Once I open the floodgate though I'm afraid I'll have to get all the other films I've been holding off on.

I just hope the HD DVD is better organized than the DVD. I rented it yesterday and that is the most lazily put together disc I've ever seen. The deleted scenes and documentaries are randomly place throughout. And most things are poorly labeled (like the storyboard comparison).
That's why I wanna hold out and see how other countries handle the film on DVD/HD DVD.

If it'd like the Hot Fuzz Wal-mart bonus DVD, yes the HD DVD will have the content. But that's Univerasal and this is Warner Bros. so I don't know.
What does the TMNT bonus disc have?
