Can't say I'm too excited about the prospects of Pokemon in HD.
Would love to get Blue Gender, though I doubt it was ever produced in High Definition. It's also a 4:3 show, which makes it unlikely to be their focus.

If the animation cels were photographed on film and a film master exists, or if they were photographed on HD video (as has started happening in recent years), traditional animation can benefit greatly from HD.
But if the cels were photographed on SD video, as is the case with most anime shows more than a few years old, there's nothing to be gained.

More recent shows, animated digitally, have generally been done in NTSC resolution, making it unlikely that there can be any benefit from an HD release. It's only this year that we're seeing a large influx of digitally animated TV shows made in HD resolution.

I've stopped buying anime these days as I've pretty much got what I need already (and the wife has about 3 times that).
I'm not paying $20-$30 a disc any more for anime. Cheap Anime boxsets have become the norm.
The only Funimation anime I'd would maybe be interested in would be Fruits Basket.
But as far as anime in HD, combing and other deinterlacing artifacts are highly visible in many anime shows IMO and many discs have compression or flagging problems. Some great anime shows would benefit from HD.
I'm just not buying anime disc-to-disc anymore. Knowing anime studios they'll start pumping out 2-episode discs for $30.
I'll get worried when Geneon or Bandai picks a side. Funimation only has a small handful of non-kiddie shows I'm interested in.

Anime on DVD reports that Funimation's first Blu-ray release looks to be Dragon Ball Z Movie Broly Double Feature. No specs. $34.98 MSRP.

Perhaps the benefit to anime on HD discs would be the larger capacity rather than a higher video/audio quality. I'd love to see a full series on just 1 disc.

Some more info on those Dragon Ball titles

Dragon Ball Z Heads to Blu-ray
FUNimation Entertainment is planning to announce the release of their first Blu-ray disc later this week at the San Diego Comic-Con. Their first title will be two Dragon Ball Z titles on the same disc - 'Broly: The Legendary Super Saiyan' and 'Broly: Second Coming' - due out November 13th. The disc will be presented in 1080p with a new 5.1 surround sound mix.
Both titles, which are two of the best selling Dragon Ball Z titles ever, have been digitally remastered from the original 35mm print. All extras will also be in 1080p, including a special featurette describing the restoration process called "Dragon Ball Z: A New Look". FUNimation plans to continue releasing their most popular titles on Blu-ray in the near future.
