To me it was definitely that good, Ocelot. Whole lot of fun from beginning to end and the right blend of modern and old school goodness.

It's Paramount, which is supporting both. Personally, I can't wait to see it on Blu-ray, actually I'm planning on buying a Blu-ray player in the near future, with Transformers being a major reason why. And the best thing is that on a lot of their major releases, like M:i:III and Flags of our Fathers, Paramount has gone out and done a nice big 2 disc release for the High- def versions (now, why did it take them so long to do that on standard DVD?). And a lot of their high-def ones (at least the ones I've seen) have all had DTS tracks, so hopefully they do the same here.

Anyway, for Bay movies, i know what i'm getting into... Personally, i enjoyed all Bay's movies so far, the actions are pretty intense. Well, story and characters are another matter, but for Transformers, it shouldn't bother me. I'll get this on BD for sure.

If the HiDef edition looks like the DLP presentation I saw this morning - it did not impress me... to many dark scenes displayed a graininess that was very distracting. Also this was one film that could have benefitted from a 1.85 aspect ratio, the Transformers should have looked massive and tall, 2.35 can rarely translate that sort of imagery to perfect effect.

I might buy this. The first 2/3 of the movie were pretty funny and had some cool sequences. The last 1/3 made little sense and the movie lost momentum for me. On the other hand I might just buy it for the explosions. lol.

TRANSFORMERS is a horrible picture. I finally went to see it and couldn't believe how awful it was. The acting is horrendous (Jon Voight is the worst of the lot), there's no story to speak of, and the only thing more monotone and lifeless than the actors are the robots themselves. The special effects are okay, but if there's no story and no one to care about...who cares, really? It's by far Bay's worst film...and that's saying A LOT!
Huge disappointment for me...I'd put it right up there with THE HULK, WATERWORLD, WILD WILD WEST and GODZILLA as one of the biggest "summer movie" duds I've ever seen.

the closest one and on the metro is Regal Rockville (MD) Screen 2. The theatre is a tad on the small side. 'Meet the Robinsons' in 3D looked great. Transformers looked terribly inconsistent.
My fave DLP screens are over at Fairfax Cinema De Lux - the screens are much larger.
On a side note, I saw the latest 'Harry Potter' not in IMAX (that's tonight with a friend I promised to see it this way), but in 35mm over at AMC Tyson's Corner on Screen 3 - and even for a darker movie, there wasn't any grain at all - in fact the print was probably the best I've seen in a long time where it was jaw dropping in it's clarity (although I do still find cigarette burns [reel change circles] still massively disruptive).
