Looks like I'll be skipping Evil Dead II... I thought the Book of the Dead transfer was a step down from the previous version, so since they're using that transfer with all the DNR, I guess I'll stick to dvd - unless of course I see it at a bargain price.

First off, the Cundey approved transfer was made in 1999 and was NOT done so it's NOT POSSIBLE for starz to have used it. The best they could do was to try and tweak the new transfer to match the Cundey one. In the day scenes, it's pretty close though not EXACT. But in some of the contested night scenes.
Ok, tripod. Canon camera in FULL manual mode. Same exposure setting, same time, same iris, EVERYTHING identical, raw, untweaked pics.
Cundey THX transfer....
Blu ray version.....

one more
Dean Cundey THX dvd
Blu Ray
Same input on PJ using HDMI switcher. camera in manual mode with identical settings for both.
It's not me, boys....
Gonna load up more in a sec. The daytime scenes were definitely tweaked. Much closer to the Cundey but still not exact. Kind of in the middle.
give me a sec...
The, "Hey jerk! Speed KILLS!" scene....
Dean Cundey THX
BD version (NICE additional detail!)
and last but not least, the divimax DVD
So it looks like the new BD is somewhere in between the GREEN of the divimax and the more fall-like Cundey at least in the day scenes.
But the night ones, especially the scene in question above, to me look like the divimax. Now, the divimax was NOT totally devoid of blues. In many scenes at nite like when the shape is watching Annie through the kitchen window, the blues outside are identical to the cundey transfer. It's just some scenes in question.

Too bad they don't have Suspiria anymore. On that note, I have read that Blue Underground is waiting to see how AB's titles sell before dipping into HD.

About the only Masters of Horrors movies that are kinda cool are "Family" and "Deer Woman". The worst one I think is "The Washingtonians" If I was related to our nation's first president, I'd be suing them for making that movie.

I figured I'd bump up an existing thread rather than creating a new one...
I was interested in getting "The Man From Earth" (2007) released on Blu-Ray so I contacted Anchor Bay through their email address posted on their site recommending that they release this film on Blu Ray and to add my request to their list. It's currently only on DVD.
The replied the next day stating the following:
So if there is something you are interested in from Starz/AB, then contacting them would be a good idea, if it wasn't already obvious. Good luck.

We are currently compiling a list of titles to release on Blu-Ray. I will add this to our list. Thank you for the suggestion.
