It looks like I will pick this up and ebay my Oppo DVD and my 360 add-on. I should come out pretty close to even on it. Might bite on the rumored HD-A2/ Matrix / get 2 free hd-dvds deal at BB.

Now if I already had a good HD DVD collection, I doubt I'd bite. But right now I just want to see what all the fuss is about.

The way I see it, I can get rid of my Ultimate Matrix Collection DVDs, which might net me $10 or $20. The two free HD DVDs are $50-$60 and the result is I'm getting Matrix and the movies damn near for free.
While the last movie has no real value, the second one does have some nice action sequences in the middle.

The five free discs are presumably the same deal as before:
Disc one: either Apollo 13, Seabiscuit, or The Chronicles of Riddick
Disc two: Casablanca, Constantine, or The Dukes of Hazzard
Disc three: Four Brothers, Lara Croft: Tomb Raider, or Sky Captain and the
World of Tomorrow
Disc four: The Rundown, Blazing Saddles, or U2: or Rattle and Hum
Disc five: U-571, The Perfect Storm, or We Were Soldiers

Here is the ad I found on best buy for anyone that is interested.
I am going to tap into my saving and pick up the A2, The matrix + 2 free (Children of Men, The Fountain)
My first experience to use my HD TV will be this purchase. I never saw anything HD on my tv yet. I can't wait to let 'er rip.

I might jump on this and The Matrix + 2 - seems like a good way to get collection started.

I've been on the fence for some time, but I have 2 questions...
1.) I am not really technically knowledgeable about a lot of players. Which would you recommend as the best for a set that only goes to 1080i?
2.) If you wait for the better player (X-A2) in the last week of the sale to get the $100 rebate, does it no longer come with the free movies?

Just back from Costco and it is $249.99 with a life time warranty. I just picked this up for my 2-year olds room. Now he has HD DVD and will enjoy it growing up

The free movie offer will probably be the same then as it is now. The best deal around is probably Value Electronics, if you go through AVS.

Thanks for the info. I thought I remembered someone saying the X-A2 was for 1080p, so I guess I won't need that one.
