I got backordered from WB too. This is BS because I ordered it before people who's copies already shipped. What happened to first come, first served?

Looks amazing on HD-DVD (through the XBOX 360, received from Amazon).
At the very beginning, I got kind of an uncomfortable feeling like I was Edward G Robinson at the end of Soylent Green.
Irritating the extras aren't included - my guess is that's to keep the price competitive.

My take as always is that it usually pays off to pre-order from Amazon as soon as a title gets posted, just to get into the queue early... plenty of time to cancel later if you end up not wanting it.
Just finished the 1st disc on BD, great, great stuff.

Yea, that is probably the issue.. I know that there have been updates related to the HD player.
Once you connect it to the net it should prompt you automatically to download the system updates.
Give it a try and let me know if it works

Thanks Sayguh,
Well I connected it my 360 and HD player to the net, and nothing came up... I went online with my system like a month and a half ago to get the TMNT Live Arcade Game and download a few trailers... I cant remember if I updated then or not. I went over to AVSforum's and Im not the only one who is having problems with getting PE to work on the 360 Add-On... hopefully a solution will present itself soon! I am dying to watch this set and dont want to have to go out and buy another player...

I ordered the Matrix under a separate order, that being the only pre-order as well, and it is also the last title left.

They only update when you put the movie in because they don't want to send a bunch of updates to people that don't have the movie and fill up their hard drive space.

I'm reviewing the SD-DVD version, which I should have posted by Sunday or so. The video quality is a bit disappointing, but the bonus feature help to make up for it. I don't think anyone received screeners for the HD-DVD or Blu-ray versions, so I doubt you'll see them anytime soon.

Thanks for the heads up, looking forward to your review.
I'm hoping the SD is good enough to satisfy me, I'm trying to resist buying an HD-DVD player yet. But Planet Earth in HD is so tempting.

You should go get it now so that you have a full weekend to enjoy it

But the extras that were left off the HD versions are really good. Especially those 10-minute diaries at the end of each episode. I can kind of see as to not including the two and a half hour doc about "the future" on the HD versions, but there's no excuse for not including those diaries - especially since they aired in HD on Discovery.
