I wonder how many times this has been said in message forums.

The extras from the r2 release of the Game are out there, but there was just no effort by Universal to get them.
Money. Same for Criterion extras. They would have to pay for them most likely. I dont begrudge them for not doing so. Same for any BD studio in that regard.

Like Supr said, its when they leave off some/all of the extras that were on the SD version that they released (like Kong or Superman from WB) when people complain. It smells of double-dip and many of us resent that.

No BD studio has dropped extras because they were licensed by a different company, though.

ALL extras (from what I can see) dropped by BD were produced by the company that is releasing the disc.

THAT is unacceptable.

This is a similar situation to Traffic. You get an (almost) barebones disc because they don't have the rights to the extras from Criterion. That I'll accept. The other I do not.

I thought the overseas edition of The Game was Universal but I may be wrong on that. If it's not, then that explains everything. Does anyone have it?

Zero sense. None whatsoever.

Yeah, I know...My comment was that if BD studios were doing the same as Universal (due to licensing), I wouldnt hold it against them. Thats not the case though.

I'm not worried about Universal not porting over the Criterion extras since they were never extensive anyway. What I would've loved to hear, and I'm sure Finch would be willing, is a new commentary looking back on the film. In fact, I wish Universal had gotten their shit together while Fincher was shooting Zodiac considering he was working with his 'The Game' cinematographer Harris Savides again. I just hate to see this wasted opportunity. This film has never had a great release and deserves so much better treatment.

They were extensive enough to fill up 2 discs.

That's it.

I know there was artwork about Brazil from some website. They actually listed Conan and Brazil for some time now.

Yeah, I remember that too. Plus shiznit's posting history includes no previous incidents of BS. So that's why I'm hoping it's real.

But I'm still crossing my fingers until it's official.

Yeah I saw that thread. No confirmation at all. Might have been an error on futureshop's part.

And then someone else comes out of the blue and mentions the same movies?

I dunno. There was even artwork for them, no? Doesn't sound like a mistake to me. I guess we'll see.

That's really SOON though.
