Hmmm let's see...

-Universal Legacy Series (The recent Hitchcock's and To Kill a Mockingbird)
-Battlestar Galactica (I would so buy the complete series)
-Prison Break Season 2 (For symmetry)
-Night of The Hunter (Rumor was a two-disc SD DVD was on the way...)
-The Sopranos Complete Series, Deadwood Complete Series, John Adams, Generation Kill (The last two are pending, and I know HBO is going to release the other two...only a matter of time)
-Pulp Fiction, Jackie Brown (Two great flicks that need the upgrade)
-Dragon Dynasty goes Blu (I would to have some high def kung fu)
-Warner makes lossless audio a requirement (Enough said)

On the TV side
-Cablevision adding additional HD channels (I just recently got Sci-fi and USA...fingers crossed for Cartoon Network)
-Comedy Central in HD (come on guys, get with the times)

My last one, and I was thinking about this the other day, have HD broadcast with less commercials and put all the commercials on the SD side of things. Fox has a great idea by airing less for certain shows, but let's get the other networks on board. Too many times am I watching something only to be sucked right out by 4-6 mins of shitty commercials.

Oh and I will also throw  for more Pixar flicks. And I would love to see more classic animation on Blu...still holding out for the Triplets of Bellvue

beebs 12-26-08 01:20 PM

No domestic release and nothing announced. Personally this 1999 remake or the 1963 original movie do nothing for me.

More Pixar and Disney animated titles.

DthRdrX 12-26-08 02:19 PM

1.) The use of DNR/EE stops (WB)
2.) Lossless audio on every release (WB)
3.) Progress made on Panasonic's 3D push
4.) Price Drops on catalog titles
5.) Hitchcock/Kurosawa releases finally from Universal and Criterion respectively.
6.) More early TV seasons finally released. (Smallville)
7.) The rest of the Bonds as Steelbooks ... :fc:

pro-bassoonist 12-26-08 02:42 PM

1. I would love to see L'eclisse and L'avventura through Criterion. Everything else is meaningless, in one way or another, to me.
2. IFC Films and Koch Lorber Films to join the rest of the distribs.
3. Artificial Eye to release The Man From London.
4. MEDUSA-Italia to transfer the Cinema Forever series to Blu-ray.
5. Koch Lorber Films to announce La Dolce Vita.
6. Warner and MK2 to put their differences aside and release the Chaplin collection (new HD masters are ready).
7. The Scandinavian release of Kieslowski's Three Colors Trilogy to make either through Artificial Eye or Miramax.
8. Russian Blu-rays are already out. Could Ruscico join in?
9. Optimum Releasing to tackle their Bunuel collection.
10. Rene Chateau in France to open up their catalog (don't have to be subbed in English).
11. I would love to see at least one title on Blu-ray by Zulawski (perhaps the friends from Mondo Home could afford it).

12. Oppo to release the solid region-free player people expect from them so film buffs could have access to great discs that are not found in their home land.

Other than than, a healthy 2009 is what I desire the most.

Bahh, you're right. Even better - maybe it will have special features and not barebones!

Tracer Bullet 12-26-08 03:15 PM

A Criterion Blu-ray release of My Dinner with Andre. Anything else would be gravy.

...and maybe 24-bit lossless audio standard too? I'll see a Sony release every once in a while that's 16-bit only, but other than those scattered few, it seems like Warner is the only 24-bit holdout.

#4 won't happen. There are a lot of SD extras that exist for lots of catalog titles, and they can't just drop them because they're not HD. They also have to be mindful of the video bitrate for the feature, and many titles won't merit a second disc.

Adam Tyner 12-26-08 04:46 PM

Newly produced extras should be considered in HD, although we've already seen some high-def extras be scaled down. (I seem to remember that being the case for one of the documentaries on The Searchers, and I know one of the Blade Runner docs was produced in HD but dumped on a DVD in that lavish 5-disc set.)

skacore 12-26-08 05:05 PM

Tv on Bluray, more tv shows on bluray then some more tv on bluray. Tv on bluray would be nice as well.

PhantomStranger 12-26-08 05:14 PM

1) Lossless audio on every BD release, including when the disc also provides the original mix in mono or stereo. Why we get Dolby Digital mono when PCM could easily replace it is beyond me.

2) A beautiful U.S. Blu-ray release of Fight Club.

3) Higher quality cover art instead of Photoshop jobs that look like they were designed by teenagers.

4) End the ridiculous and shoddy packaging for boxsets. Criterion needs to dump this packaging they have come up with for Blu-ray.

5) More television sets on Blu-ray and start releasing prior seasons of shows that already have BD sets like Smallville and Lost.

6) I do think brick and mortar stores should price new release BDs a little more competitively but I understand the volumes may not justify it yet.

Fight Club
Seven
the rest of the Pixar Movies
Fargo
Lost Season 1,2

On a general note for Blu-ray itself i'd like to see the costs of discs start coming down further.

I don't think any of these have been announced yet...

Indiana Jones (first three films)
Jurassic Park
Last of the Mohicans (Daniel Day-Lewis version)
Star Wars (original trilogy)
Tombstone

If you're a really big fan, this can be had for around $41 at Axel Music. It's Region Free, removable subtitles, and plays in the Playstation 3.

I hear the transfer is very good! Not perfect, but very good.

People have confirmed its Region A and should work in all PS3's ect.

Or you can wait until Aug. 09 for it to hit the states :)

Actually, all the Hellraiser movies on Blu-ray. One big fatass box set, with a pinhead statue which has REAL pins it, and oozes blood when you press his nose.
