You should support RELEASES, not formats. You shouldn't buy feature-less BDs for $35 a piece. You shouldn't buy combo or totalhd discs for more money than the BD counterparts. Support the releases that you want to see more of, because the studios will follow the money.

I'll be the first to admit that I see this issue from a one-sided standpoint. I bought an A1 back in September and have been VERY happy with it ever since. I'd been following the two formats from their earliest stages and truly felt that the HD-DVD format just had more to offer, that they did so in a consistent manner and that they didn't have to cram down my throat how vastly superior they were.
Having said that, I don't mean to come across with a poor attitude, either, but I hope that my point is really considered. If you prefer the HD-DVD format, you need to decide what it's worth to you. I'm not going to tell you how you HAVE to spend your money, but look at what you've spent so far. Especially those of you who are dual-format supporters!

I am supporting releases. If i had both systems right now, I'd still go with HD DVD. The releases are (for all purposes) equal. $4 isn't really that big of a difference in price when you're talking about $23-28. Then it comes down to which format I prefer and which deserves the money. That would be HD DVD.
Say what you want about "not supporting a format/supporting a release" but that's all horseshit.
Every single purchase that's made in HD is supporting one format or the other. By not purchasing those BD releases, you're standing up to that format and denying them support. That's how this whole thing is run: $$$. And $$$ = support.

The BD release by WB is exactly what the HD-DVD should have been (VC1+extras+lossless audio-combo disc).
I think some of us are just trying to steer the studios a certain way. I dont care if its BD or HD-DVD. We just want them to get it right (which WB has been doing normally).

You may think you're telling WB you don't like combos...but I don't think ANYONE is going to hear it that way.
BD will spin spin spin it that they are outselling the HD DVD version and that everyone likes BD more. And anyone here who doesn't see that is in serious denial.

In THIS case (meaning this release), the BD seems to be superior (all things being equal after the reviews) because the HD-DVD is a shtty combo.
Ive grown to hate them as everyone else has. I HATE getting finger prints all over the top when I take it out of the case. I HATE paying up to $5 more for a release. Ill put that extra money towards another disc.
If the BD had not been lossless sound and/or was missing extras then I would have gone with the hd-dvd. Im not going to get the inferior version just to prove a point.

I'm guessing it will be around $36-$40 shipped.
Still a cheaper alternative to buying an entire new piece of Hardware.

Not everyone -- I like them a lot. I like being able to take them anywhere and being able to more easily show friends the differences. As for fingerprints, I don't handle discs with unwashed hands and I try not to touch the tops whether they have artwork or not.
I really think people are missing the boat on combo discs.

For this particular release, yes, I like the BD more. Why should I buy the shittier version? I'm no Samaritan, I'm not here to save HD DVD.

I dont like combos though and I dont like releases with no extras or fewer than the sd (which BOTH are guilty of doing....BD has just been worse).
Personally, due to all the factors....im taking it on a per release basis, but defaulting to HD-DVD.

Probably exact same video.
5.1 PCM Uncompressed
$4 cheaper
Not a combo
Artwork on Disc
The BD version is better than the HD DVD version and that's the one I'm buying.
Note: I have 20 HD DVDs to 4 BDs so I'm not biased against or for any format.

The content is not necessarily considered "shit", but just the fact that it is a "Combo" automatically associates it with "shit" because of the inconveniences that come with a "Combo" (Price/Flipper/Fingerprints)
The same thing is going to happen with that "Total HD" shit.
