I only have HD DVD and there are a lot of upcoming BD releases that I want.

I am with HD-DVD only now after selling my BD player after a couple months of poor performance back when it was launched. I have since sworn that I will support only HD-DVD until it either wins or loses. I will not rebuy back into BD until they have an absolutly huge selection of titles that I must have and their players are 300 bucks or lower which is obviously some time away. Fr movies that are released on BD only, I will import if possible or not buy the movie at all. I am done with SD except for TV shows. So my purchases would follow as such
1) Buy it on HD-DVD if available
2) Buy it on SD if its a TV show
3) Import it if its not available in the US on HD-DVD
4) Not buy it at all
5) download a 700MB or 1.4 Gig version to hold me over till Ican buy it in HD
I have no problem admitting that I download quite a bit off the net as I purchase a massive amount of movies from the studios. I am sure many here are against that kind of thing but I only started doing it in responce to the studios terrible habit of Mass double dipping. So again if I absolutly have to have it and its not on HD-DVD and I cant import it then ill download an AVI of it until I can get a copy in one of the prefered methods. both 700MB and 1.4 Gig AVI files look great using my IO Data AVLP2 DVD player.
PS...

I posted at AVS about it...but unfortunately couldn't post anything here.

I picked up a bunch for some friends...and then bought the rest for myself.
I think I left Dukes...and about 4 copies of Rumor Has It on both formats.

If you had somewhere else in mind please post it.

My grandmother is going to Germany in Feb/March. I'm thinking of having her pick up some imports for me. Anyone know of any good places to get discs over there?

Ok with the announcement of Stranger than Fiction on BD only, I think I might have to turn to the dark side and buy a BD player.
I was really happy to see the Universal logo in the opening credits of Children of Men though. Babel, The Departed and Children of Men on HD DVD

Like many here, I:
1) Buy the HD-DVD
2) Rent the HD-DVD
3) Rent the SD DVD
4) Nothing else
I'm not buying into BR, it's that simple. Quality is too poor (even the most recent reviews are sub-par, take "the Omen" for example), hardware is too expensive, and well, I just have a hard time trusting Sony.
I will add a 1.5 to my list in March. I will start importing titles, like many here. Le Pacte de Loups will be my first, hopefully followed quicky by the Prestige when it's available in Europe.

Of course you're right about the higher cost and Sony's track record, but until you have personally witnessed some of the better Blu-Ray's on a properly calibrated setup, I don't think you can call it poor.
Are the reviewer's equipment lists even posted? Not meaning any disrespect to the reviewers, but I take reviews with a grain of salt until I see what they're reviewing on.
