I just got an LCD HDTV and I am currently looking for an affordable upconverting dvd player (100ish dollars) that I will be able to connect to my tv with a HDMI cable. It would also have to be able to play Divx files pretty well. Any suggestions? Thanks!

Costco carries a Toshiba upconverting DVD player for $79 (maybe less, actually).
Out the box, it'll upconvert your DVD's to 480p/720p/1080i, play Divx files, and it even comes w/ it's own HDMI cable.
You can also find a (very easy) code online, which'll unlock region-coding and let you play pretty much anything (I use it for r3 & r2 discs currently...no issues.)

This is the younger brother of the NeuNeo 2085 HDV player. I have that player and it does indeed scale to 1080p. I don't have first hand experience with the Helios, but some of the Neo's had noisy power supplies.
