It's a pretty uneven bag, but I'd grab a couple of 'em. |

If the transfers are done right, the visuals on What Dreams May Come and Elizabeth should be fantastic in HD. I loved the SD-DVDs back in the day.

I've been meaning to pick up Elizabeth for a while now. Glad I waited.

Some Early Details of 'Hot Fuzz' HD DVD/DVD Combo Hot Fuzz isn't exactly announced on HD DVD yet but it will be, soon. We've some early details about the HD DVD/DVD combo release in our hands right now. As usual, the main feature is presented in 1080p High Definition OAR video with Dolby Digital-Plus 5.1 audio tracks. It will be released day-and-date with the DVD release (which I believe is a 2-disc set.) Besides that, if you liked the film, then you can expect the HD DVD/DVD Combo release to be pretty packed with supplemental materials. The list includes: - Deleted Scenes (20 minutes worth) with Optional Audio Commentary by Simon Pegg and Edgar Wright - Outtakes - Visual FX Comparison Before & After - 12 Video Blogs including The Lost Blog - We Made Hot Fuzz - Dead Right Special with 2 optional audio commentaries by Edgar Wright, and Nick Frost & Simon Pegg respectively - Art Department - Here Comes the Fuzz - Simon Muggs - Flip Chart - Flick Book: The Other Side - Plotholes - Domestic & International Trailers and TV spots We've been told by informal sources (take it with a pinch of salt) to expect U-Control interactive experience feature on the disc, though I'm unable to seek official confirmation on that as yet. |
Sounds like a great set for Hot Fuzz.
Was Darkman previously confirmed to have TrueHD? I don't remember seeing it mentioned before, but good news. |
an insert included in the Matrix set:

Let's hope that Warner sticks with that October 2007 timeframe and this doesn't become another Goblet/Shawshank situation.

'300' Coming to HD DVD and Blu-ray on July 31 May 15, 2007 Warner Home Video has announced '300' will be released simultaneously on Combo Format HD DVD and 50-GB Blu-ray Disc on July 31, in line with our July target window published two weeks ago. Both versions will be presented in widescreen 2.4:1 1080p and Dolby TrueHD audio. In lieu of the ongoing issues stabilizing BD-J interactivity on Blu-ray Disc, Warner has opted to not hold back on the HDVD and include "...over 90 minutes of thrilling extras. Watch the entire film with Blue Screen Picture-in-Picture (PIP) functionality and special commentary by Zack Snyder. Also includes an exclusive HD strategy game Vengeance & Valor," while the Blu-ray Disc will include,"...90 minutes of thrilling extras including featurettes on the battle scenes, special effects, and characters" as well as a feature-length commentary with Director Zack Snyder, Writer Kurt Johnstad and Director of Photography Larry Fong in lieu of the PIP functionality found on the HD DVD. '300' on Combo Format HD DVD will carry an SRP of $39.99, while the Blu-ray Disc will come in at $34.99. |

Nice looking specs for Heroes.
I'm glad 300 isn't a TotalHD disc. But it does suck, again, that Warners does not give a PCM track for the BD. |

300 and Heroes on HD-DVD for me.
Awesome news for hd-dvd! Both will be great! |
Wow lots of good stuff announced. I'll get Sea Of Love for sure.
Elizabeth and What Dreams May Come are also great picks. Since Universal is releasing the Elizabeth sequel to theaters, I'm sure they'll go day-and-date. Nice Blade Runner flyer too! And count me in for the 300 BD. No combo and TrueHD - nice. So no combos for Heroes then? Might have to get it after all. |
^ You wont get the IME though with 300 BD....maybe you dont mind though.
That sways me over to HD-DVD, otherwise, id go for BD too. |
300 on BD for me.
|
300 and Narnia BD's for me. Glad I decided to stick with my Criterion laser of Blade Runner for all these years.

I was hoping Jailhouse Rock would get an HD release, so I will probably buy that one.

Someone on another forum stated that the flip side to the Blade Runner insert indicated a Kubrick Collection also coming soon to HD DVD and BD.
I can't seem to post it (how does one post a JPEG?), but it exists and shows pictures from Eyes Wide Shut, 2001, Clockwork Orange, Full Metal Jacket and The Shining. They were also indicating at the other forum that FMJ would be a remaster (allegedly). Some were speculating that Barry Lyndon and Lolita might be left off, but I'm hoping that they were just left off the ad, as their images aren't as strong, ad-wise. Hopefully it will be all seven.... |
