Looking forward to Tremors. Hopefully they treat it well.

Has there been any word on a release date for Legend?

The IMAX release is meant to tie in as a promotional push for the DVD.

I thought Starship Troopers was delayed?

Mr. Cinema 08-29-07 12:33 PM

jiggawhat has been noticeably absent lately. Perhaps he can give us a hint on Transformers' October date. AVS does have a link to a site claiming there are a few retailers who have confirmed the 10/16 date. I'm very surrprised they would release this one that fast, but maybe Paramount and Toshiba decided on that date. Mabye that's when the gen 3 players start popping up.

KoCheese99, seems to have dates on releases also. I'm hoping he'll be chimming in here shortly.

I dont know why I'm really looking forward to this film - I didnt really like it in theatre's... I guess I'm just hoping that there will be a ton of features on it.

I'm sure it'll be a 2 disc'er.

RockStrongo 08-29-07 12:56 PM

Cant wait for Transformers.....its the first time in a long time that I felt like a kid again when at the movies. I hope Trans2 is just as good or better!

The HD-DVD is gonna be awesome!

Kocheese99 08-29-07 01:13 PM

Nothing on transformers yet.

But do have info on two BR titles:

Oldboy 2-disc coming on 11/06/07 with msrp of $34.95

and

High School Musical 2(appears to be an extended edition): coming on 12/11/07 with msrp of $34.99

The Transformers release date will be set to coincide with the DVD. The release date for the DVD is not set with any considerations for HD DVD in mind.

The U.S. Blu-Ray was, but you can get the UK one now, and it's region free.

Any news on 11, which would outsell this in spades?

fryinpan1 08-30-07 01:48 PM

I only want the first Die Hard movie, so I will probably pass on another attempt to force people into buying the box set.

It should be available in the trilogy box set only. WB will probably eventually release it individually.

Not to worry -- it's Fox, so you'll invariably get a number of different versions to choose from over the next 5-10 years . . .

Mr. Cinema 08-30-07 02:31 PM

There will be plenty of good titles to choose from this Fall. I can't afford them all, but I'm glad to see the studios giving us alot of choices.

While many people may prefer the first movie, new releases always outsell catalog releases.

Maybe for DVD Z, but there's simply not enough data to apply that to next gen.

fryinpan1 08-30-07 03:40 PM

Oh, but there is. It's a new release driven business, just like DVD.

And thats easy to explain, most people would rather buy new releases than have to replace their old titles.

Just in case anyone is interested, I found this little gem for the serious HD'ers...
