I'll agree with that. Once in the theater when it came out was more than enough "Close Encounters" for me. I don't have a lot of patience for UFO hokum unless it is done "tongue-in-cheek".

Hostel 1 & 2 Blu-Ray on 10/23 (both unrated)

http://dvd.ign.com/articles/808/808984p1.html

July 28, 2007 - Today at the San Diego Comic-Con, Sony announced standard and high-definition releases for both of Eli Roth's gory, blood-soaked European adventures - Hostel: The Director's Cut and Hostel Part II. Slashing their way onto store shelves on DVD and Blu-ray on October 23, both films will present the final, violent killing stroke to the Hostel universe with completely unrated, feature-full editions. Roth was on-hand to discuss the films and said of the newly-unrated version of the original - complete with the original ending:

"When you watch the director's cut ending - this is the ending that could actually support a completely different sequel…You have to watch it knowing that the story would continue in a different way…We showed it to audiences and people just left the theatre genuinely upset and so we always said that we wanted people to be disturbed, but not, you know, ruined."

Hostel: The Unrated Cut will offer a host of features, including:

Director and Producers Commentary with Roth, Quentin Tarantino, Boax Yakin and Scott Spiegel

Director and Guests Commentary with Roth, actors Barbara Nedeljakova and Eythor Gudjonsson, editor George Folsey, Jr. and journalist Harry Knowles

Director and Producers Commentary with Roth, producer Chris Biggs and documentarian Gabriel Roth

Five featurettes including: Music and Sound, Set Design, KNB Effects, An Icelandic Meal with Eythor Gudjonsson an and Interview with Takashi Miike

"Killing the Car" multi-angle featurette

"Hostel Dismembered" International TV Spot

"The Treatment" KCRW radio interview with Roth by Elvis Mitchell

"Hostel Dissected" - three part behind the scenes featurette

Ten deleted scenes

Photo Galleries

Optional original ending

As for the second release - the special unrated edition for Hostel Part Two - Roth assures fans, "There is only going to be one DVD. We really jam packed this DVD and I don't want to double-dip the fans. It's very important for people to know that this is it for Part Two. This is the cut with all the extra violence and gore…with all the deleted scenes and some terrific featurettes, as well as Tarantino's awesome audio commentary."

The sequel DVD will feature:

Director's Commentary with Roth

Director and Producer's Commentary with Gabriel Roth and Quentin Tarantino

Cast and Crew Commentary

Elivs Mitchell "The Treatment" interview with Eli Roth

Factory Torture Cams (exclusive to Blu-ray)

Blood and Guts Montage

Deleted Scenes

Four behind-the-scenes featurettes

10/30 sounds about right. IIRC the French BD box sets were announced for that date a while back too.

Some members who were at Comic-con said Sony reps confirmed a press release in about 2 weeks, which would coincide with the August 8 date from the previous thread.

Some more Blu-Ray. Nice to have a concrete Cars date now.
Looking forward to the Spideys as well.

Both HD backers have said Q4 will be important. They aren't kidding. There are TONS of stuff coming out.

Bram Stoker's Dracula
Anchor Bay Horror titles
Kubrick titles
Spidey Trilogy
Cars
Close Encounters
Ocean's Trilogy
Pirates 3
Blade Runner set

and assuming Fox wakes up, we'll have Fantastic Four 2, Die Hard 4 (hopefully the whole set), Simpsons, plus all those canceled titles

I've got several more listed as well. My collection is going to quickly increase from Oct-Dec.

You're not kidding. I've actually started selling off a bunch of the dvds you mentioned above to make room for the upcoming Blu-ray/HD-DVD releases.

Yeah, I dont trust Beatboy's rumor's cause he acutally said these were gonna be released in May, BUT I would expect they come out with S3 anyways. So, this isnt farfetched.

Mr. Cinema 07-30-07 12:53 PM

The Sopranos: Season 6, Part 2 arrives on both formats October 23.

Please do tell...No TrueHD probably? PCM only?

Is the release date at least correct? or close?

Skoobooz 07-30-07 05:59 PM

I can't reveal anything more than we said at the booth. Just don't listen too closely to Beatboy all the time....
