I heard the HD DVD version will have IME, so I don't know why anyone would buy the BD version if they had a choice. Just because other WB VC-1 transfers have apeared the same on both formats doesn't mean that will always be so, although I agree it is likely.

This has been discredited many times. The player's component output is put through the same noise reduction as the HDMI. Additionally, it has a decidedly softer, duller picture than HDMI for everyone except Bill Hunt.

If you actually owned a Blu-ray player, you might be able to test that for yourself.

More reviews forthcoming. Here is a preview from what Chad is seeing:

If this is VC1, then the codec doesn't have as much on MPEG2 as people think, other than maybe the luck of the draw. But as Microsoft has been touting that with VC1 they can deliver a full length feature with high def extras all in 30GBs or a film the length of one of the extended editions of LOTRs, I'm surprised they couldn't flawlessly handle a 77 min, all digital animation with a handful of very short standard def extras at 25GBs. Something doesn't add up. Then again, maybe this is the result of VC1 now being able to half the bitrate. Why they would do so on a disc that should be capable of more, is another question.
For the record, the title is indeed VC-1.

By the way just had to say that was a very interesting read on the stop motion techniques they used. Thats the camera I am ordering by the way so its nice to see its good enough to make a major hollywood moton picture at half resolution tho I dont really understand why they went with Nikor glass. Canon has better 35mm glass hands down. Anyways nice article, was a very interesting read.
