An insert in one of Warner's Blu-ray releases reportedly mentions the following titles that haven't been announced (or semi-quasi-announced on sites like The Man Room:
  • Space Cowboys
  • Under Siege
  • Christmas Vacation
  • Corpse Bride

Supermallet 08-01-06 02:15 AM

Corpse Bride would be awesome to have in HD.

From DVD Active...looks like this will be Universal's first D&D title:

'Universal Home Video has sent over an early look at the artwork for The Break-Up which stars Jennifer Aniston and Vince Vaughn. I'm afraid Universal has yet to officially announce this one, so we're unable to bring you too many details at this time. However, we are able to confirm that the disc will include an alternate ending, over fifteen minutes of deleted and extended scenes, and some outtakes. Retail will be $29.98. A HD DVD version will also be available for $39.98. We'll bring you further details shortly.'

You're right. My bad. Thanks.

Either way, nice to see SOMEONE is releasing movies D&D :)

I'm thinking MI3 will be as well for those that can stomach Mr Cruise.

I hope so, it was on the paramount promo....I think it was the best of the series.

And Slither on 10/24. Looks like we're finally starting to see some D&D releases -- which is exactly what I think is needed at this point. I'm very curious to see how Warner handles Superman Returns. That (for me at least) is one of those "killer app" titles that the format really needs.

Oliver Clothesoff 08-01-06 01:07 PM

If Superman Returns is not d & d, it's going to be really frustrating - even moreso than V for Vendetta and Posiedon - because they've been talking about the HD release since even before the movie was released. There's no reason it should not be ready on the same day as the SD.

I agree.....But, then again, maybe the HD-DVD will not be released, but the BD will. ;)

I expect that MI3 will be day & date. This was Paramount's big Summer movie and it didn't live to the previous 2's box office, so I think they will want to make whatever money they can on this. I believe the Blu-Bits now says 10/31 for the dvd, so let's hope HD joins it.

I think SR will be day & date. This is one title that they probably had planned HD items for well in advance of the movie. I think it will be ready. Plus, that 11/28 release date is right at the beginning of the holiday shopping season, so it makes perfect sense.

Caddyshack and The Searchers now have a street date of August 22nd. Also, Good Night and Good Luck has been bumped to the same date.

digitalfreaknyc 08-01-06 02:46 PM

Goddamn it. Happy about more releases but here I sit...waiting...to give one of these studios my money. And they keep releasing discs I'm not interested in.

Excellent! I'm all over Caddyshack and (especially) The Searchers!
WOO-HOO!!!

Adam Tyner 08-01-06 03:27 PM

That's more than a month between HD DVD releases for Warner. Yikes.

candyrocket786 08-01-06 03:44 PM

Still no V or Batman.....

Fuck!!!!!!!!!

Crap, that is three I want on the same day. I just wish I knew for sure if Caddyshack is going to get the print cleaned up. I may skip it just in case.

Anyone have more info on The Searchers being too yellow?

bboisvert 08-01-06 04:46 PM

I assume The Searchers will have all of the bonus material that was on the recently-released SD special edition? Right?

Supermallet 08-01-06 04:51 PM

All the WB HD DVDs have had the SD special features. Look at Enter The Dragon and Blazing Saddles.

Hammer99 08-01-06 09:56 PM

FWIW, just noticed Poseidon is now up for pre-order at Amazon, though December is still a long way away.

Batman Begins is definitely coming post-September/pre-January...the studios are saving some of their "good" titles for the 4th quarter. You're likely to see Goblet of Fire and the Star Trek movies by then as well...

The Bus 08-02-06 03:32 PM

I believe The Break-Up is going to be a hybrid disc.

DVDACTIVE.com reports that The Lake House will be on HD DVD day and date on September 26th! Link

You can expect an anamorphic widescreen transfer at the movie's original 2.40:1 aspect ratio, along with Dolby Digital 5.1 English, French, and Spanish audio tracks and optional English, French, and Spanish subtitles. In addition to the audio and subtitle choices already listed, the HD-DVD version of the film will also carry an English Dolby Surround 5.1 MLP audio track. Extras have yet to be announced for the title so stay tuned for those and the artwork, both of which should be along shortly.

Supermallet 08-03-06 01:33 AM

Why are only bland romantic films being released day-and-date lately?

flashburn 08-03-06 05:15 AM

Just saw this over at thedigitalbits...

While we're talking high-def, The Weinstein Company has sent us their anticipated initial HD-DVD release slate, due to arrive in December from distributor Genius Products. If all goes well, look for Clerks II, Derailed, Wolf Creek and Scary Movie 4 on 12/5, DOA: Dead or Alive on 12/12, and Pulse and The Matador on 12/26. We've updated the Hi-Def Release List accordingly. Note that these dates are subject to change.
Not bad, one of their first titles, Clerks 2, is a day and date release.
