I'll take your word that this one has nice cinematography, though. I haven't seen it. |

Besides, if A&E did the remastering, the HD DVD would cost approximately $900,000 according to their pricing scheme, and would contain edited down versions of the show.

[Sorry to sidetrack this thread. I do think that Josh Z's wife did a fine job with the "Prada" review.] |
I was just messing around.

Has anyone had any out of sync audio problems on Mutiny on the Bounty HD DVD? I noticed some problems around the actual mutiny while playing it on the A2. Is this just a bad disc or are they all like this? A few people also reported this problem at AVS, but I could never find a solution.

I watched The Sting last night, what a treat to have one of my all-time favorites in HD! Other than a few shots that were on the soft side, I thought the PQ was great, especially for the film's age... and especially when I look back on the previous versions that I have owned: FF LD, FF DVD, WS Import DVD (that wasn't so hot), the special edition DVD (not too bad), and now this. Big thumbs up!
Sad thing, though: now that I received Sting & Mummy Returns, for the first time in a long time I have no more Universal HD-DVD's on pre-order... this sucks. I hope the rumors about Brazil being released later this month are true. |
I picked up Fearless a couple of days ago. What a spectacular movie. Definatelty, Jet Li's best movie (even better than Fist of Legend). The picture was outstanding. I'll be using this to show off the format. I just wish there was a trueHD track, but the DD+ soundtrack was awesome in its own right.
A must own! |
I watched Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas HD DVD recently and the picture quality is much better than the Criterion DVD. The HD DVD had a sharper image, better resolution, and more vibrant colors. However, I had to turn the volume up 2-3 times the normal level on the HD DVD.

Any reviews for Meet the Parents HD DVD?

It really is. I really hope they release some of his other movies like Fist of Legend on HD DVD. |
Watched Lucky Number Slevin last night. What a great movie. Excellent transfer also. Sound was a little low though. Also saw 12 Monkees. It wasn't as bad as everyone complained it was.

Interesting on Fearless...Saw it in the theatres and thought it was a decent movie, but didnt think I would pick it up. Maybe I should revisit it.

Glad to see that there is finally a review for World Trade Center up. I think this is the best HD-DVD released so far. Wonderful film, excellent quality, and packed with HD extras. This should be the blue print for all future releases. The price is nice too, glad at least one studio is smart enough to avoid the combo.
I thought the review was very well written but the overall score is a little low. If this isn't worthy of a "DVD Talk Collector Series" rating then nothing is. Everyone should pick this up. |

Warner Bros' Goodfellas Blu Ray: Hail to the King Baby
Hey guys, just wanted to take a second to let you all know how amazing this film looks on Blu Ray. Like Blazing Saddles, Phantom of the Opera, etc- another reference quality disc.
I think it can be said, just like DVD from the beginning, Warner Bros. is the undisputed king of transfer quality in HD. |

I also wanted to give some props to Adam for his latest batch of reviews. I agreed with just about everything he wrote (except that I really liked Hulk, but that's been pretty divided anyway) and really liked his Pulse review. What a pile of poop that movie was. I was very curious to hear the commentaries for that junk, so thanks for sparing me. I also agreed that Clerks 2 looks much better than most people are giving it credit for, I don't quite get the hate for that transfer. |
Just received Chicago on Blu-Ray...I'll post thoughts this evening after watching it.

It definitely has been a commentary-tastic few days. I wound up working from home one day late last week just to try to catch up with all the tracks on Clerks II. :) |
