Just checked my on demand and episodes 1,2,5,and 6 are up, but just as I feared, Episode 2 is cropped like it was shown on HBO before.

What about the rest of the episodes? What aspect ratio? Is 2 the only one that's cropped?

The other episodes that are up besides ep 2(1,5, and 6 currently) are in OAR. 3 and 4 aren't up yet on my system.

I just watched the long comcast on demand preview for SW... The aspect ratios jumped around alot and the clip of the death star exploding from ROTJ wasn't even the SE version!!!! No praxus moon wave! 1-5 are available OnDemand right now too but you have to be a cinemax subscriber. So they won't all be in OAR?!?! That sucks.

I wouldn't base any assumptions of the AR of the films based on an advertisement. That might've been slapped together before they received all the HD transfers.

1-5 are available OnDemand right now too but you have to be a cinemax subscriber.
That makes sense. The idea is to get subscribers; the ondemand service is a bonus for subscribers.

It appears a whole bunch. I'll check when I go back upstairs.
One thing that sucks is (at least with the comcast HDdvdr that you can't record anything off of thr OnDemand, just watch streaming. When are these officially suppossed to bow again on max? Odd that they'd have it on OnDemand first

As per:
http://www.tvweek.com/page.cms?pageId=333

Cinemax will marathon all six starting at midnight Nov. 10. After the initial Nov. 10 marathon, fans can catch the two trilogies on Cinemax on separate nights: The prequel trilogy on Nov. 16 and the original trilogy on Nov. 17.

Cinemax will also make the films available on-demand from Nov. 2 to Dec. 28, along with 14 short-form "Star Wars" making-of specials.

Most of these bonus making of's appear to have already been released on the dvd's or official star wars website in some form. Currently on On Demand is the following docs:

10 gallons of buildings
Becoming Obi Wan
Becoming Sidious
Bucket Heat
Creatures of Ep3
The Wookiees
To the Dark Side
Weapon is your life

All these small docs are around 10 mins or less. The docs aren't in HD like the films.

I just signed up for Cinemax when I saw that all 6 are now on my "on demand". Episode 2 is the only one that is cropped, 4 is fine. Scanned a few minutes of each one and they look incredible!!! They'll be on my "on demand" until Dec. 28th, but I'll drop Cinemax after this month when I get 1 and 4-6 on my DVR (already got 3 back in August).

Well, you guys are right! I just popped on The Empire Strikes Back. It looks pretty good, a little bit better than an upconverted DVD. Can't wait to see what an HD DVD or BD would look like.

I thought Sith looked really great on HBO-HD, one of the best HD broadcasts I've seen yet... and the little bit that I've seen of the others (sans 2) look hot as well. They'll tide me over just fine until the BD's or better yet HD-DVD's (hopefully Fox is on board by then) eventually come out.

Don't ask why they're labeled 1080p. Clearly this people have no idea what they're talking about.

Well well well, I played episode 4 (A New Hope) and the sound fuck up from the 5.1 remix on the dvd IS STILL THERE ON THESE HD MASTERS! Where the right suround is on the left front and the left suround is on the right front speaker.

I know it should be labeled as 1080i but because I don't want to lose track of what downloaded version this is, it is labeled as same than the actual torrent release.

The label wouldn't really be inaccurate if they were deinterlaced properly. Even though the source is interlaced, the shots could be representative of what it would look like in 1080p. As an HD-DVD supporter, you do clearly understand how 1080i video of film transfers contain the same amount of resolution as if the video was 1080p, right?
