I still think colors are the same. Color resolution is different, but there's no reason DVD can't show off a very bright yellow, or a deep red, or a vibrant purple. These aren't magical colors that until HD-DVD were never seen

Doing some Googling, I see references to 8-bit 4:2:0 for both HD DVD and DVD, but I'm really not savvy enough to know if that's correct. I do seem to remember people suggesting not relying solely on DVD calibration discs like Avia and DVE because of the colorspace differences.
