I'd have to say that the BD boys follow their example QUITE clearly.

I HATE TO BURST EVERYONE'S BUBBLE HERE BUT...

Having those logos does not mean that the PS3 can really decode TruHD.

The other BD players claim TruHD compatibility ALSO - but in truth, they ONLY decode a DD 640 kbps core within a TruHD stream.

So it is more than likely that this is all the PS3 will do also.

Also, that logo would have no meaning at all in relation to whether the PS3 has HDMI 1.3 or not.

However, there are other statements around the web that may have some bearing on whether the PS3 has HDMI 1.3 or not.

Just don't assume you'll get TruHD decoding...

The answer will, of course, be said to be a "qualified yes".

Qualified, in that most upconverting players use specialised hardware (ie Faroudja) to upscale, whereas the PS3 will probably do some rudimentary "software upscaling".

Not the same thing, IMHO.

I don't think most of us were assuming that. Just that the PS3 would have the ability to pass the HD sound codecs to a receiver for decoding and that would require HDMI 1.3.

I doubt that, actually. Sony has always used their own solutions, not Faroudja or other industry standards. But they are real solutions, and are in fairly cheap DVD players right now.

Funny Story.
I was in Gamestop today here in NYC and walked into several people discussing the PS3. I hung around to listen to the employees, the owner of the store and several customers talk about the ridiculously high prices. They were all throwing around what they could get for the same price and several people discussed which console they're going to get instead. They were also trying to figure out where else they could get the games they liked (if they were available on another system) because they refused to pay for the PS3.
BD was never mentioned but I found it interesting as I don't really know anyone who is "just" a gamer.
