So, 4 titles from WB to BD is not exactly a train.

"Holy crud, that reminds me! Totally forgot to post this. Last week I had lunch with a buddy of mine who works at a DVD authoring house. He knew I had just gotten an HD player (and was the only person in the building who owned one apparently), so he took me on a quick tour of HD DVD authoring and their Blu-Ray department. The HD DVD group looked busy, but I was told they weren't having too many problems. However, in the room where they were working on an upcoming Blu-Ray title, it was a different story. He poked his head in, said "You guys alright?" A short grunt was the only reply from the room, at which point my friend said, "Yeah, they're having lots of problems with Blu-Ray. No one here likes it."
I'm not sure what any of that might mean, only that this particular authoring house prefers HD DVD to Blu-Ray... I was even told they were thinking about not taking on too many Blu-Ray titles, as it was slowing everything down.
Take it how you will."

Shameful. Truly shameful. What a serenade of threadcrapping. I thought trolling was a no-no outside the free-for-all thread. And the moderators probably think it's funny too.

I agree with the sentiment that finally we'll be able to do a side-by-side of the same movie. That may be very enlightening.

Sony and BD (at the moment) are one huge stinking joke.
I'd love for you to go into why you're still defending it...even though I'm sure you'll say you don't have to.

There's a reason that "Report this post to a moderator" button is there.

I dont get why it was a sad day either.
HD-DVD had MUCH bigger announcements over the past 2 or 3 days anyways and maybe they are saving their best announcement for today.
Just yesterday, they announced that Batman Begins and HP4 will be released in Q3 AND that LOTR, Matrix trilogy, and Shawshank will be out by year's end.
Add that to the huge $150 million marketing campaign and I think its been a good week (not to mention the HUGE coming soon list on their new site).
BD had a good week too I guess....they got a couple movies that weve had out for a while and one that isnt on hd-dvd. Maybe WB was throwing them a bone??

I'm not thrilled that WB and P are playing both sides of the fence but...I was never really partial to bisexuals either.

Yeah, because if Blu-ray does win out in a year or two we will be completely unable to buy Blu-ray players.

We are supporting HD DVD because currently it is by far the superior format. When and if Blu-ray gets it's shit together there is nothing stopping us from supporting it. Most of us aren't blind, ignorant fanboys we are in it for the movies. Granted Blu-ray has got a lot of of things to get right before I can forget all the lies they have built the format on so far.
All these Blu-ray titles announcements are meaningless to me since I will not go back and buy any titles that are Mpeg2 encoded on single layered media.

I think Sony's making a long series of astonishingly stupid mistakes, but I'm in it for the movies, and if the highest quality way to see the films I love requires buying a Blu-ray deck, then I'm game. We're not there yet, though.

Have we heard or seen one advancement from BD since it was announced? It's just been a series of disappointments.
I'll have zero problems supporting BD if it eventually is "the winner" but that will only happen when HD DVD is dead. If that means living without Sony movies in HD until then, so be it. I'm sure there will be other means of getting them on HD DVD by that point anyway.

I just mean that my allegiance is to the movies, not to the hardware, and if Blu-ray (or some other technology entirely) offers a more attractive solution, I'll cheerfully buy in. I want the highest quality video I can watch today -- 'cause 'potential' doesn't have much in the way of entertainment value -- and right now, that's HD DVD.
