What exclusive? King Kong is coming out separately on HD DVD in Nov:

Also, The Universal Media Remote is already out.

From your description, it sounds more like the announcement tipped the scales for you.
Thank you Professor

Tipping Scales, Impulse Buy.... it's all the same to me.

I just made an impulse decision then.... to purchase this player in the near future.

How dat be.

Yes... but when you combine three... you have an "exclusive type" bundle that will entice "impulse buyers"....like myself and others

I think his point is that King Kong is an HD-DVD exclusive. This is just like if Sony would pack in Spider-Man 2 with the PS3.

I think the remote is like $30 or so. But, still a GREAT deal.

Although, I have the Logitech 360 remote, so I can sell this one on EBAY or something to recoup some of the cost.

Nice

Edit: Was the optical cable for audio still the only choice? I'm curious how they will execute this is someone wants the different audio options of HD-DVD.

You know what guys??? I think all the "spin" going on in the last page or so has made me want to go out and buy a PS3!

Please. No matter how you cut it, this is very good news and a great deal.

Exactly....its exclusive to HD-DVD.

If they put hd-dvd displays with Batman Begins, Terminator 3, Troy, Superman Returns (depending on release date) and some other huge titles, this package that includes King Kong will really entice people to buy into hd-dvd via the 360.

Those movies really appeal to the gamers who will buy a 360 or have one.

Will it be the straw for hd-dvd? Of course not. I dont think any gaming system will be whether it be the 360 or PS3. But, it definately could steal some thunder from the PS3.

If this doesn't tell you Universal's stance nothing will. Smart thinking all around the HD-dvd group. Any release date announced?

I would GUESS that its the King Kong release date (11/14)....maybe this is why that kong release date was delayed for so long??

11/14 is the Kong release date. I was thinking it would be the same date based on Kong being in the packaging. Good news is that they are getting it out a few days before PS3.

None announced for the US, just "mid-November". The Japan release is Nov 17. Probably the same week as the HD DVD release of King Kong, but possibly not on the same day.

Don't worry about it.

Amir said Kong looks better than the Demo clip so I'm thrilled for the add-on.

Yeah, im itching to preorder kong from dvdplanet, but they still have the combo price ($27.xx). So, i want to see what amazon lists it as first.

I only saw it once in the theater and thought it was slow, but it seems like a great title for home viewing.

Since Sony keeps dropping the ball with many things, and Microsoft keeps pumping out some great announcements, I bet they'll release this before the PS3 comes out.

The big question for me is how many units Microsoft will be able to deliver during the Christmas buying season. They have kept a pretty low profile on this unit for quite a while, but now, announcing the Kong bundle, it is going to become much more "visible" to many consumers. If they have been busy quietly assembling the units for the past few months, they could be poised to bring a sizeable number of them to the US market.

From what I've heard, they will have NO problem producing a very good number of these for release date.

He's not going to answer them.

That's the one thing about Amir, if you don't get a response, you can be sure it's "classified."

Yep, I figured that...he is almost always tight lipped when it comes to the 360.

I had thought since the announcement came in for japan, he might have been able to share it now.

The HD DVD side rarely opens their mouths about anything. This whole format war is an interesting character study.

They have definitely kept their cards closer to their vest, so to speak, than their BD counterparts.

It will be interesting to see just how many units Microsoft ships, and when they announce the numbers. My guess is that they don't want to give "the enemy" too many details just yet. We'll probably here more information toward the end of October.
