Standard DVD Upconversion Over Component?

Ok so we know that (without hacks) upconverting DVD players only do the conversion over HDMI. As an owner of an analog HDTV, I would love to take advantage of this capability.

Since both BR and HD will allow 1080i content over component, will these players also upconvert standard DVDs over component as well?

This would be a selling point for me, and I don't recall seing this mentioned anywhere.

Anybody have an answer?

I don't believe so. They still want DVD stuck at 480p over component. I agree it would be a selling point though.

Isn't this due to Macrovision? If so, I don't think anything will change with the next-generation players.
