Yeah, I like to pull out a "methinks" now and again. "Woke", in the sense it is now used, is an irritating ungrammatical neologism.

The term "Woke" not really used so much by the people that it is being used to describe. It's used A LOT by right wingers who are upset by it.

It was all over the political ads for the right and I was getting tired of it. I think half use it just to use it to show they are hip and cool.

That's probably true, Obi, but I know many people on the left use it too. I'm very progressive, as I have stated, but I would never call myself woke, in part because I'm bothered by piss-poor grammar (though I'm sure it's in all the latest lexicons), and principally because I don't like to be lumped together with others under a homogeneous umbrella. However like-minded and fraternal I might be with people who are considered "woke", I have a mind of my own and certainly don't agree with all-things-woke.

If only. I knew entirely too many people who embraced the label and "cancel culture" and used "Woke" religiously.... until it became a pejorative and a laughingstock and a dogwhistle for the Right.

I don't think anyone has used the term "Woke" non-ironically since... oh, let's say when Netflix's Bloodline was a huge watercooler hit.

Cancelling, or boycotting due to political differences, occurs in all regions of the political spectrum, make no mistake. In terms of "woke", use whatever terms you want, but I do agree that there is an unhelpful tendency to overreact on the left. Needless to say, that applies to the right as well, but it dismays me more when it's people who are otherwise my ideological kinfolk.

After 22 years at this site (close to half my life, wow!), I'm going to take my leave at this juncture. I wish all of you well.
