Can we have a food sub-forum?

Seems like the food topics we have are pretty active, and it'd be nice to have separate threads for different chains or whatnot.

Food = Good.

Forum = Good.

Food Forum = Good.

Food + Forum = Foodum = Not Good.

Food Talk = Good.

Pizza - thick or thin? (25,460 replies, 440,721 views) Will lead to several getting banned.

Remove the Group Forum to make room for a food and drink sub-forum. That could work.

Everyone is complaining that activity is so down at this forum and now we want to split the activity even further? I love food as much as the next nerd. It's my favorite thing to eat, but do we really NEED this?

I was just thinking the opposite: that it could revitalize the forum. It should always have it's home theater/media roots, but expansions like this could bring in fresh faces.

So, it's a big NO....yet, we have Book Talk.

What's the downside? Try it and maybe it it generates a few more posts/traffic.

If not, then kill it.

The forum needs some change.

If you create, then delete a forum later the posts go into something like suspended animation. It's a bitch to fix them later.

Because deleting Book Talk or Political film will cause issues.

You can't move them?

Or just let it die on it's own, like Book Talk.

Not talking about deleting Book Talk. But it appears this isn't worth fighting since it's not going to ever happen.

Can you rename a subforum, leaving all the threads and posts intact?

Just a general question, can a subforum be renamed and/or moved to another section of the forum tree?

Haven't thought out specifics, but Politcal Film seems open to a fresh idea. Or maybe all the Book threads can be moved into Comic Book with that combo being renamed. Just spitballing here....

I have a better idea. Let’s just post all of our food threads in Book Talk. Who the hell cares what it’s called. :lol:

Re: Can we have a food sub-forum?

I agree with VinVega. Keep food discussion in Other. Why dilute the forum even further when activity is as low as it is?

No, no we do not. Additional forum differentiation on a forum with declining activity is a remarkably bad idea. We should be combining forums.

So long as threads stay remotely on-topic, it is not onerous at all to pick and choose the threads you have interest in an open just those. The days of 3+ pages of updated threads per day left us during the Clinton administration.

Agreed That’s why we’re looking at combining the Cooking and Book Forums.
