Re: Ads redirecting me to cam girl site MERGED

I got the same thing earlier on my iPhone using Chrome. I love this forum but this is getting old. Between the site being taken over by ads on Safari to the point of not being able to use it and now this I'm pretty irritated. Chrome had been working with the site fine before today (I downloaded it probably a little over a week or so ago) and seems to work better overall but I hope this doesn't start to become an issue.

Mobile site, while using a Samsung Galaxy S8, is horrendous.

I tried using it a few times in the last week and always get re-directed to a fake virus alert and then get directed to a fake google play store site to download some virus protection software.

I'm not tech savvy enough to know what the deal is, but something about the mobile site is definitely screwed up.

Oh wow, this is still a thing?

I probably spend less than 5% of the time here that I did this time last year as a result of the malware ad networks IB has in place...

That happens to me all the time on my phone regardless of what sites I look at.

To me it only happens on this site

There's a long thread about this in the feedback forum.

There is a lengthy thread in the Feedback forum going back over a year with complaints about it. The site owners don't seem to care, which is par for the course.

http://forum.dvdtalk.com/forum-feedback-support-4/

It's one of the reasons I don't visit here near as much.

No, it's just your phone. It's probably infected with lots of viruses.
On the plus side, there's a good chance you could win $1000 if you know who created Facebook...

How do we know you didn't bring the malware in here with you?

I never browse here on mobile devices, so I haven't been aware of the problem. Guess it's just another nail in DVDTalk's coffin.

Everything was fine this morning and now my dog is suddenly barking with a Russian accent. Do you expect me to believe that this is just a coincidence?

Dunno guys. There are two sides to this. How about we just let the malware speak. Maybe it has something valuable to say, maybe it doesn't. But it should have the RIGHT!

Look at it as an opportunity to install an adblocker on your iPhone.

Re: This site full of malware?

It is a non secure site, from Chrome on the subject matter:

"The site isn't using a private connection. Someone might be able to see or change the information you send or get through this site.

You might see a "Login not secure" or "Payment not secure" message. We suggest that you don't enter sensitive details, like passwords or credit cards.

On some sites, you can visit a more secure version of the page:

Select the address bar.
Delete http://, and enter https:// instead.
If that doesn't work, contact the site owner to ask that they secure the site and your data with HTTPS."

I've noticed the browser hijacks have stopped for me on both my iOS and Android devices (for about the last 2 weeks). Anybody else seeing this? Did we fire the ad company or are they actually acting ethically now?

Has it been since, oh, the 19th or so? When HTTPS was enabled? I noticed in the browser console logs that there are a number of ad-related Javascripts that are no longer loading, because they're being called via HTTP on HTTPS forum pages. An unexpected benefit to moving to HTTPS? At least until they fix things to load those scripts over HTTPS.

OK, hopefully it's a lot less than we had. But when you DO get redirects, nothing gets done without screenshots. I know it feels like nothing gets done WITH screenshots, but I can't force tech or ad ops to do anything. I know they do check out the problems, though.

Re: Ads redirecting me to cam girl site MERGED

I have 1 of the screenshots as it wasn't vibrating the daylights out of me. The other one I had to stop the maddness. I will have to look into an image posting site to host the pic and then link to here (I used to use Photobucket which now is way more restrictive).

imgur.com lets you easily post pictures, including third-party embedding, without creating an account.

Tried to browse to the website version using Google Chrome on my phone and it literally won't allow me to do anything but redirect to Google Play to download the app. The app requires many permissions that I didn't want to do. I will investigate transferring my pics to PC and see if Imgur is more agreeable there.

btw just got hit again. Took pic. Stay tuned.

I think Imgur sucks as well; on iOS here. I think I'm going to start using postimages.
